Actually went into Burton this morning....did everything but buy superglue!!! Rats, and more RATS!!!

Still, I'm recovering from a good night at Singalonga Rocky Horror in Wolverhampton.
YES, I WAS in costume, but not a spare square inch of flesh was on display (I went as Eddie). So....warm and comfortable, but it's no where near as good as a babe magnet. "Flesh" will be on display for the live show when it returns from Christmas onwards. Lots booked including Brighton, Richmond, Stoke, Manchester, Birmingham....so far that is. Oh, and Milton Keynes too.
;D ;D :tank: ;D ;D :drink: :drink: :tank:

Doing some "plastic" stuff on the Spitfire today....also trying to sort a venue for a "good" party for next July, and then off to AC/DC Livewire later. Should be a cracking day!!

Getting old mate

Painting the Corsair tomorrow, and priming the Spitfire with Grey Primer...it'll be usefulfor the upper surfaces.

Decals on the Corsair...it'll be completed tomorrow on it's base....just need to flat varnish, add transparencies, a bit of detail painting and a prop.

Cut out a Corsair (Academy 1/48th F4U-4B) yesterday at Southwell....it'll be the 2-seater for Biggles.
Also cut out an Airfix Bf-110 that'll be steampunked and IJAAF.

As well as the 2-seat Corsair......think I'll do it "flying" as it'll be a nice companion to the single-seater.....I've cut out the preliminary bits to a Hobbycraft La-7 to be slightly (ha, ha, ha!!) steampunked and Soviet.

In "Biggles Follows On",there's Soviet "Yaks" buzzing the airliner, a DC-3, on the way into Berlin.....this is set against a background of the Korean War. Now "Yaks" could mean Yaks, or it could be a generic term for a Soviet fighter. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!! Soviet La-9s and La-11s seem to have been mostly painted in all over light grey, which makes matters easy....lots and lots of nasty staining on the nose of course!!

The 2-seat Corsair will have a suitably rediculous long steampunked nose, and if not canards, then at least a very wide and long fuselage strake to aid with handling.

I'm having fun  :drink:   :drink:

Finished the steampunked Corsair....aka Vought-Arkwright Blackbeard Mk.1.
Photos on Facebook.

Well on with the Lavochin La-7SP-1. :o :o

A quiet day tomorrow, so adding the detail to the La-7SP-1 "Finkitsdaft" tomorrow, including the new armament in the wings and other bodywork too.

Cut out lots of card for "bases" for the current flying brigade lol.

Oh..... :o :o :o :o :o :o

......while engaged in conversation with the esteemed gentleman David Hart (currently of 1/144th SIG), we discussed the creation of the scenario..... "The Borrowers At War"....tiny people with tanks, etc., in the house, in conflict with various househiold pets, rodents, etc....

AND I found some excellent resin Guinea Pigs today :tank: :tank:

Oh yes - you can just imagine all those radio controlled tanks manned by little people

Do you remember the comic that had the kid with a wrist controller and a massive r/c miniature army/navy/airforce ? Even the little soldiers were radio controlled  ;D

Oh yes, I do.

As the Guinea Pig is alifesized, I'm thinking a 1/35th scale for the armour and figures ;)

As the Guinea Pig is lifesized, I'm thinking a 1/35th scale for the armour and figures ;)

This puts me in mind of the  children's TV  programme of many years ago "Tales of the Riverbank"  I can vaguely recall a  Jonny Morris narration giving us  a Yorkshire   guinea pig.
"If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you....."
It  means that you read  the instruction sheet

Fond memories....bought some superglue today....again.

After the deviation created by "The Borrowers At War", we're back onto the steampunked 1/48th La-7ST-1.

Now the La-7 had a NATO reporting name of "Fin"....further research has revealed that the extensively modified (by German engineers in the Democratic Republic of Germany, under Soviet supervision) La-7 was known by the NATO codename "Fing".
This was because when initially spotted on photos smuggledout of East Germany and confirmed by aerial reconnaisance, the Intelligence Seargeant who interpreted the new data exclaimed:
"What the F*CK is that fing"....and the term "Fing" stuck!!
I've added a very long nose that's now in the process of detailing. I used a number of different-sized buttons laminated together. Some are covered in wrinkled foil. Some exhausts have been added, but the engine/power chicken (a "power egg" is nowhere near developed enough!!) needs substantially more detail with pipng, etc..
I've built it u/c down, but I'll probably pose it as if just taking off.....

More soon.

I'm also building extensions to my steampunk goggles (1:1 scale) that may well appear on my hat at SMW :o :o

Now that daughter, grandaughter and related junk have moved, I've reclaimed upstairs as the creative zone. I'm knackered, but have created the base "thing" for my steampunk goggles.

This afternoon I'm off to "play steampunk creativity" with a lovely friend ;)
