What is now the 'Couture' nightclub (just checked it out on Google Street View) is on the site of a night club called 'Cinderella Rockerfellers' at the time but we just used to call it the 'Top of the Grot'.  Don't know where the name came from - we didn't invent it, just adopted the use from senior students.

Ooer, when was that? I've been there too.........  ;D

Right on the money!  ;D

We used to go over there sometimes from Derby in 76-78, after which I left BR, changed jobs and moved to Berlin.

This suggests Derby is is a town to leave, never to visit.

Sorry anyone from Derby.

Mrs_PR19 and I came to the same conclusion, assisted by a far better paid job elsewhere, which is why we moved to the Forest of Dean.  ;D

It's OK to go back there nowadays though, things have improved somewhat, but Alf Goodere's Model Shop is no more sadly.

Once had a 1 hour stop over between trains. Went in pub (probably long gone) over the road from the station and ended up being asked to give the bride away at a wedding that afternoon   It's a long story ???

My Grandad (maternal) was a Derby man and he moved to Sunderland post WWI - that says a lot

Being relatively close to Derby, the best thing about it (apart from Modelzone) is it's easily bypassed.

Hopefully I'll finish the F-4D in Afrika Reich colours tomorrow. Either way, there's also Saturday for a final flat finish after the decals have dried, and a quick base for it to stand on.

Must admit an F-4D in Desert Sand looks good.

Had a crackin' day yesterday at Cosford.
Also, tidying tonight; putting stuff in the loft and clearing the hobbyroom/den/pit/creative area and tomorrow they're out all day so "happymodelling" with some figures, snap-together kits, and some grey primer....all kits/figures in 1/72nd for Biggles!!
More painting on the F-4D that still needs attention.

Hopefully after tidying I shall build a 1/72nd diorama for the Biggles SIG. Got some SdKfz 251/1s to build as well as a Zundapp motorcycle/side car witrh riders.....all  snap together.
Plus Italeri figures.....shouldn't take too long.

I'm back, thanks to Geoff Baker. Good man.
I think my pc is almost terminal though and the North Koreans or China or MI5 have infiltrated it lol. My "wizzo" nephew has been contacted so he can come around with his sonic screwdriver.
Meanwhile.....been rocking.
Booked Quo tickets for Christmas...LG Arena and Nottingham Arena (taking grandaughter to this again, air guitar at the ready)....also booked for Vampires Rock in Notts and Brum.

Currently building an EE Canberra PR,9 in RAF colours, but in PR Pink (like the WW2 Spitfires). I'll be painting it at MK after it's been primed.
Also at MK will be a 1/48th Fw-190A4+ steampunked engine in Luftwaffe Desert colours, belonging to a Ukrainian unit.
