In and amongst all of the current global malarkey which I'm sure all are finding concerning (but I won't go into detail, you know the stuff I mean) there have been stunning night skies down here on the Sussex Riviera.

Attended a Stargazing event on Friday night run the local astronomical society.  Very good introductory/explanatory talk that put what was visible into context.  Great views of Jupiter (one could readily make out the stripy cloud formation, but not the eye) and its moons through telescopes; Mars was easy to identify.  Even through my weedy 10 x 30 binoculars I could see three of Jupiter's moons and just about make out the Orion Nebula.

Pretty much the same view from my back garden the following two nights.  After a bit of a struggle looking for through my rather noddy Panasonic Lumix's viewfinder it I eventually found Jupiter plus all four of its moons.  Sadly couldn't get a photo, hadn't set up remote control of the camera through my phone, so way too much motion.

The days have been beautiful, too.  Very clear skies and great visibility.  With the naked eye it has been easy to make out Beachy Head in the east all the way round to the Isle of Wight (Bembridge/Ventnor area) to the west.  The views from Cissbury Ring would, I'm sure, have been stonking.

That said, today has been quite hazy.  No seagulls, though - good news is ice cream and chips not interrupted by them!

Tell you come from the affluent part of the country, the beach huts are freshly painted  ;)
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I think I needed that view of normality and serenity right now, actually. Thanks!
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!
