AHS majored in airliner decals though. They had HUNDREDS (maybe thousands...) of sets there in all scales and from all over the world. A veritable mecca for me when I was deep into airliner modelling.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Three weeks in and our 'guests' continue to settle in nicely, and it feels like we're transitioning from 'guests' to 'flatmates', which I'm taking to be a good sign.  It's an honour to have them with us, and I'm flattered to be trusted by them to provide a temporary home for them.  There's thankfully much humour to be had and Mariia has developed a taste for dark chocolate Hobnobs and also London Pride!

Minor downside is that Mariia brought her job with her and needs the small bedroom/study/office/modelling room to work from home.  Modelling time is impacted so I have to grab the opportunities when I can, such as this morning when I had a couple of hours to work on my LHC GB entries.  In the greater scheme of things this is a very minor first world problem!

Another trip to AJ's on Friday; previous post was incorrect - everything is 50% off so I treated myself to Warpaint books covering the Fairey Barracuda, Supermarine Scimitar and MiG-21.  One final trip before they close for good on 30 July, methinks.

Glad it's going well Dave

As for London Pride, the lady needs to sample a few other bitters before settling on a favourite  ;D

One step at a time, Chris!  Got her to try 1845 yesterday, must hunt down some Broadside and Abbott Ale and then a diversion along the Proper Job and Ghost Ship roads.

There's so many out there. One of our locals has a decent selection of locally brewed bitters ranging from 3.6% to Silly %  ;D I prefer the lighter, in colour bitters, around 3.8/4.2% nowadays, but as said there's so many to try  ;D

Goodby LHS.  Final trip to AJ Aviation (ex-TAHS) today.  Didn't really want/need anything but was determined to spend something.

Came away with a 1/72 Smer Su-7BMK for Hawkerfication and the Warpaint Catalina book.

The Wooksta!

There's a Hawker delta project that looks like an Su-7 fuselage. Can't remember the number tho - 1090?

Are you thinking of the P.1093, Lee (https://www.secretprojects.co.uk/threads/hawker-p-1090.5389/)?

Possibly, away from my references at the moment.  Lightning F1 fin may be useful too, IIRC.

The Wooksta!

Yeah, that's it, although an Su-9 or 11 would have been a better start for the wing. P.1121 fin looks a better bet than a Lightning F1.

Just invested in a copy of the September 2022 edition of Scale Aircraft Modelling.  A couple of typos here and there and then you get to Colour Conundrum, 'Daylight Camouflage for Aeroplanes of the RFC and RAF 1917-1918 - Part 1'.

Now I'm no expert on WW1 stuff but I can say with 100% certainty that the illustrations are NOT Spitfire Is, IIs or Hurricane Is as stated in the captions!

They're definitely interesting schemes and I may throw together a Spitfire in said colours, citing the finish as being based on research published in SAM!

Sounds interesting Dave. I may have to invest in a copy of that!

A Lysander could look good in the BE.2c (I think it is) scheme, Jim.

Yup saw that yesterday when it dropped through the door, but at least they've been consistent  ;D

Couple of interesting builds. The Matchbox Havoc shows what can be done with old kits and the article on converting the new tool Airfix Buccaneer to an S1 looks interesting.

Well stuff's really kicked off today, so I have decided to  throw my hat in the ring to become new UK prime minister  My populist manifesto is as follows:

1.  Nationalise Hannants.  It guarantees its future and is in the best interests of the nation's modellers.

2.  50% discounts at all UK model shops for all forum members.

3.  PR19_kit to be limited to buying one U-2 (or other high aspect ratio-winged aircraft) kit in any scale per year to give the rest of us the chance to get one.
