No progress today, out to lunch with some old work colleagues, but was thinking that as it would appear I'm going to have to do some p.s.r. with even the best fitting of modern kits I might as well work on some of my older "short run" kits as well, as they won't be that much different to me ?  ;)

Yeah, might as well while you're in the mood/mode.
And it means they're all that much closer to completion.  <_<

A little bit of progress made  and I'm enjoying it

Found I need to pace myself and know when to take a break, which can be a little difficult, but I'm getting better at it.

Happy New Year all

HNY, bud!! Glad you are adapting to overcome.

Second that, happy new year, Chris!
I've found the same a few months ago when i was on vacation, if i spent too much time sitting at the bench, my back would start to hurt so i had to force myself to take a break and get up and stretch my legs and back, as well as rest my eyes, especially after i've been doing smaller detail work.

You are young.  That shouldn't happen (yet).  You should get it checked out.  I'm not saying it's anything bad but ignoring backache because it goes away is not the approach to take (it did me no favours).  I recommend a chiropractor or a myotherapist but other types of doctor are available.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I appreciate your concern, Fred, thanks!
I've been going to a chiropractor for quite a few months now... 20 years of hard BMX crashes, 19 years of gardening... both of these factors summed up have taken their toll...  I don't have hernias or anything too serious, it's not a very severe back pain as it is, but after 4 hours straight, hunching over the bench, i believe almost anyone would have some sort of pain... ;D

I'm glad you have it in hand (if you'll pardon the pun).

Anyway back to the matter in hand  ;)  ;D

Getting on with the p.s.r. and have also started to tidy up my stalled Attacker which is just about ready for paint and I can paint her undersides at the same time as I do the Tomahawks

Had some great "fun" yesterday trying to change the blade on a Junior Hacksaw  :banghead: How the **** are you meant to get the old one out, let alone a new one in ????? Gave up in the end. Will probably take it into B&Q and say "you sold me the blades, ow show me how to get the so and so's in"

IME you remove the blade from a junior hacksaw by putting the front of the blade against the edge of the bench and then applying some weight to the end of the handle while simultaneously flicking the back of the blade upwards out of the slot.
Problems start when the blade sticks in the slot.  At that point pliers get involved followed closely by a vice and swearing.

I'm sure you know all this.  Go straight to the swearing.

I once made the mistake, after getting into similar problems with getting a dead blade out of the handle, of cutting the blade in half with some heavy duty cutters. One of the freed ends promptly fired itself into the palm of my hand resulting in much blood all over the place.  :banghead:

And of course I was unable to put a new blade back in after that!

Indeed! At some time I think we have all been there, done that, got the scar........

If I were you, I'd consider finding your  safety goggles and heavy gauntlets before attempting this task.

Not me - the man/woman at B&Q who sold me the new blades can do that  Thinking about it, it's probably easier buying a new saw, but that would be giving in  ;)

Anyway some progress on both the Tomahawk, needs a little more PPP, and the Attacker, ready for paint, plus I've taken another kit that stalled during my crisis of confidence down of the naughty shelf and cleaned it up ready for some spot priming.

I've started spot priming with good old Humbrol No 11 Silver as it really does show up where extra work/a blind eye is needed  ;)

Some progress, not much, but at least a little

Will probably slow down even more over the next few days. Firstly I think I'm coming down with something and secondly I have a new phone to get up and running. It's a bit like going from the stone to computer age over night when you look at the old and new ones together, so with no 6 to 16 year old handy (all up North) this could take some time as they say !
