Quote from: kerick on September 14, 2024, 06:44:28 AMI like the box art with two guys just chit chatting away while an explosion or a forest fire is going on!

Someone got over zealous when it came to cleaning the latrine pit  ;)

Meanwhile a bit more work done on both the Zero and DB-7. Been working on the interior of the DB-7, and there's a lot of it. Was concerned about how well it would fit, but so far so good. I've found the best way forward is to fit the bulkheads, check how the fuselage fits, do any necessary trimming to ensure a good fit, so far just a little light sanding required  and then you know if the floors need any fettling in order to fit and then you can slide them in place. Dry fitted the upper and lower wing halves and was met with a very satisfying "click". The engine nacelles are a good fit as well going by the dry run, so the only major possible problem still to be faced is the wings/fuselage joint. Hopefully will test that later this week and get back to you all.

Started painting the Zero's airframe, using Colourcoats enamel's Japanese range. Lovely paints, my favourite enamels.

The DB-7 continues to have sub-assemblies assembled and so far, touching all the wood going, construction is as sweet as a nut.

The DB-7 would look very good in NEIAF orange, or flag markings

Nothing model related, just showing my age  ;D  When I was out this morning was staggered by the number of conkers (Horse Chestnuts) laying around, probably the rain last night brought them down. Some really nice ones as well. Now when I was a kid they would have already been picked up by kids on their way to school, that's if we hadn't already knocked them down with flying half bricks.  ;D I suppose the old game has long been banned from playgrounds under health and safety rules, or do they play a virtual version ?  :-\

The old game of Conkers for those unaware explained.

Probably too much like work - and too manual for The Younger Generation...

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I'm delighted and greatly relieved to report that conkers as a sport is alive and well and living in rural Herefordshire.

Apple or Android?

Android.

Years ago I went to a motorcycle club camping weekend at a pub near Ford in Sussex (yes, that Ford - formerly WW2 RAF base and now open prison) and there were large Horse Chestnut trees in the beer garden dropping conkers.  Someone scooted home for a drill and string and we had an impromptu Conkers competition.

Well the Zero has its main colour scheme complete   Overall IJN light grey, which took a few days as I was using Colourcoats enamel. Brushes beautifuly but takes 2/3 coats, especially with a light colour, which this was. Indeed lighter than the plastic, which didn't help.

A few touch ups on the cockpit surround and one other small area around the exhausts and then I can move on to the transfers.

Glad I got the main paintwork finished, as I'm off to Chester next week and if I'd left her in a half painted state the Mojo may well have disappeared.
