No progress for various reasons and there won't be much, if any, this week as I have an important family do "Ooop North" next weekend.  Maybe the week after before I'm off again, but I need to get in the mood,  :-\

Ques : How do you know you are getting old ?

Answ : When nearly all the invites you get are to 80th Birthday parties and Diamond Weddings  :angel:

Any reason for a party is a good reason. Not to forget!

Managed to get a little painting of the Kittyhawk interior done. Not much, but any progress is good progress  :thumbsup:

Reflects my own day rather well. Interior painting. Not my favourite thing in the world, but still - a man's got to do what a man's got to do.  ;)

But does one have to do it ? I know darn well the vast majority of my detail painting won't be seen, especially as the canopy doesn't have an open option, but I still detail it to the best of my ability. I suppose its that, that sets us apart from other species, allegedly anyway  :angel:  ;D

That's a good question. My take is that I do anything that I theoretically could see from the outside, but I am rarely enhancing things beyond kit level if the chances of actually seeing something are slim.. However, building an entire interior in a closed fuselage, f.i inside an Airfix Nimrod - won't happen. Period.

In this case, I'd like to get it the way I want, even if I won't seee much of it once the anopy is closed. But as I'm quite sure I will be albe to see if I don't paint, I just bear with it, as the alternative is to be annoyed about it for eternal times.

Me too.  That said I'm in the process of building a RW Airfix (current boxing) 1/48 Hurricane and thoroughly enjoyed assembling/painting the cockpit plus pilot - even scratch built a Sutton Harness.  And of course can now see bugger all!

But it was fun.

I'm always torn about how much detail to add. Some projects I get a compulsion to go all out and scratch build interiors etc and some (like a Breguet br.693 I'm currently building) have minimal/no interior and I don't even bother doing anything to them. Just get the kit built before I lose motivation  ;D
Don't let ageing get you down, it's too hard to get back up

Old Wombat

AFV's don't often come with significant interiors* but, when they do, I get stuck right in detailing the bejeezus out of them, even if most of it can't be seen.

I do the same for aircraft, although not as insanely on the bits that absolutely can't be seen.

[*:  Unless it's a special boxing, although there are more being made & sold with interiors as standard# ... at ridiculously high prices]

#: Russian tanks seem popular for this ... Probably so they can be modelled in their natural state;

Isn't it odd that recent Russian cosmonauts have been tankers and they're being launched into orbit from Ukraine?
