No.  That is not a jetpack.
A jetpack is something you strap onto yourself. That on the other hand is something you strap yourself onto.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I want one.  I just wish it had better range, as I do t really fancy having to refuel it 6 times to get from home to work

Dunno where we are with it these days but 5 years ago a work buddy enjoyed a very highly supervised (and tethered) lift (about 18 inches off the ground) as part of a CAA check on the suit and what its creator had in mind for it.

Apparently there's a racing league for these in one of the Gulf States (Where else? And what else are they going to do with their money? :banghead: )

And you're right, Fred - definitely *not* a jetpack, but likely the closest the CAA/FAA will let us get.

The Royal Marines evaluated it, basically they liked the idea and are keeping a close eye on development but felt it wasn't mature enough.  IIRC range and fuel is the biggest issue, the usual downfall of jetpack concepts.

Another less critical issue is it takes some serious physical strength to operate the directional arm jets. I wonder if a mechanism could be rigged on a simple frame to mitigate this.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

A modified steadycam harness? If it works for a Smart Gun...  ;)

I almost feel obliged to return to the bench simply so I can make some progress and  post something and get my Blog back on track  ;)  ;D

Isn't there some mountain rescue outfit using jet packs to get paramedics into places faster?

Keswick MRT were invited to test  a jet pack recently.  Their view.......potentially very useful, but not quite yet.
