Lovely ! We have access to a lot of cheese here as well. So much to choose from. We just picked up for nibbling over the holidays smoked Gouda, Cahill`s Irish porter, Cheshire, Red Leicester, and some Lancashire. Along with the more traditional strains of cheddars  :drink:

Cheers Chris !

Well the Ha/B&V 137 and the He 100 are finished, pictures early next year

I'm not particularly happy with them though. As said before I'm going to have to re-evaluate how and what I model given my dodgy eye. Going to start by looking at the working area and seeing if I can change things around a bit to make things, particularly the lighting better.

As I'm seeing family in Jan probably means not much actual modelling until Feb

Have a good New Year all, those not already there that is

There are those who move up a scale as eyesight begins to not be what it once was.  Quite a change one's only ever invested in a smaller scale.

I think I'm still ok with 1/72, it's limited run stuff I'm having fun with, especially lining things up. Both the 100 and 137 needed a lot of work on the fuselage spine because I misaligned it. I've always had a problem with my stigmatism with this but the new problem has made it far worse. Judging distance, getting the brush in the paint jar, can be fun, especially when tired  :banghead:

I think it just means more main stream modern toolings and learning to work slowly in better lighting conditions. Touch wood anyway ; providing I can judge distance to said wood that is  ;D

First entry of the year and it's not progress on a kit but on the work area.

Completely re-configured my work bench/area so that the lighting was the principal concern rather than the size of the work area. It's worked quite well. The quality of the lighting over the area in which I'll work is much, much better, even if the area it'self is smaller. This is not a problem as I still have enough and it will also mean I'll have to be tidier with tools, parts and semi finished kits. Can't have then strewn all over the place as before. The area will obviously evolve but I think I achieved my main aim.

A little progress on my GB project but that's about it. I'm suffering from what our female friends tend to dismiss as "Manflu". In reality I'm bunged up, coughing and spluttering and running a temperature. Add that to not sleeping and I don't feel like doing much at all. However I have worked out and indeed pulled the necessary from the stash, what my next few builds will be when I return from missionary work "oop North"

There is, of course, no such thing as 'Woman Flu'............

Yeah, right............

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Returned from visiting the tribe and got a little work done in between catching up on all those things one needs to do after a trip. Including an absolute mammoth Windows update

While I was away I got myself a cheap'ish "Tablet". Now once upon a time you bought some IT related equipment and the instruction manual was 3" thick, this one is 3/4" but that's only because it's in 7 or more languages. I think they now expect you to know how to deal with the thing ? I could have cheated and got one of my younger relatives to sort it out but a) they wouldn't have shown me how, just flashed fingers all over it and b) they'd have set it up so it best suited their use  :banghead: So I'm going to sit with that tomorrow. All I really want on it is Internet on the move, my e-mail on the move and the BBC I Player for when I'm travelling. Great way to pass a 4 hour train journey, caught up with the BBC 4 series on the Romanov's  Lucy Worsley is quirky enough to be quite attractive . Now need a basic primer on Russian history and a biography of Catherine the Great.

On the modelling front once the "Wing" is finished I'll be building another RAF flying wing of the 50/60's and then having an Airfix fest - Beaufighter, Wildcat, Stuka and Kate. Some real, some not so much. All new tools and all nice steady builds

I seems that the first thing I have to do when I buy a new item of electronica is to connect it to the interweb and download all the updates to the firmware that have been released while it has been languishing on the retailers shelves.
In extreme cases the item in question hasn't even worked properly until I have done this.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Had that happen a few times

Meanwhile on the modelling front the Vengence has been Kleared and I think I've found an unused serial number batch for her. I use this site for serials http://www.ukserials.com/which in all honesty I find a bit of a pain. Anyone know any other sites or indeed sites that give the unallocated/unused blocks by period ?

Got another Dragon 1/200 XB-49 today. Present to myself as I was a brave boy when I had my second eye injection this morning. I was impressed with Moorfields (at Mayday my local hospital). Appointment was for 9.00am and after the prep nurse, eye scan, specialist consultation, the actual injection  and then the finals nurse I was out at 10:15  Next one is in a month. Eye showed signs of improvement and the doc showed me on the scan and even I could see it

The XB-49 will become the still secret Vengence S.R.4 which according to some sources is still in service. I want to alter this a fair bit from the base kit and in the end she could end up looking a little like the current B.2, which in some respects just shows how far advanced Northrop were in their thinking.

I need to consult with some fellow wiffers for advice at Huddersfield first however.

Are these SR4's the odd looking aircraft that are stored in the big Gaydon-type hanger at Machrihanish?  I've heard it suggested that they still range far to the North and Northeast. There's an unmarked BAe 146 regularly shuttles between Boscombe Down and Machrihanish, and a QuinetiQ HS 125 that's often seen there too.  I would be fascinated to read of  your  researches into this curious  situation.
