Progress

The 42 has had her transfers put on and got her matt coat this morning so she's getting very near to finals.

As for the Goose I'm thinking of calling her the Harlot as she's spent so long on her back so as to keep the weight off her legs  However she is now ready for her transfers. I was looking at the planned weapons load yesterday and have cut it right back as I know she will go straight into the "thanks but no thanks" box and I don't want to waste stuff. I have screwed up the build for sure, but there's something else about it that I just can't put my finger on. Do models have personalities ?

Also picked the next project from the shelf of doom. Another resin USAAF project which stalled because I had no idea what to do it as. I now have one, an idea that is.

Goose has her transfers so is on the last leg of her trip to the cupboard.

42 has had her vacform canopy fitted. It was one of the thinnest I've seen and almost certainly the most flexible. Now the flexibility helped in getting it into place but it just didn't want to stay in place using my usual Clearfix. I had to use tiny spots of super glue gel and just hope the Klear/Future dip would protect the canopy, which it appears to have done. It would have been easy to cut the canopy and pose it open I think.

The 42 now has her quarter lights fitted and a right p.i.a. they were. Took far longer than the canopy to get something even vaguely acceptable. Even for me  :banghead:

Bit of fun with the transfers on the Goose. I needed some thin - 1/16th - white stripes, so got the Microscale sets out. Cut the length I needed, put it in warm water and it shattered into a hundred pieces. Never mind, coated half the sheet in Future/Klear, half in Microscale's own Liquid Decal Film. 24 hours to dry, cut length, put in water. The Futured one  shattered into a hundred pieces, the Microscaled one shattered into a four pieces  :banghead:

Luckily remembered I had some Xtradecal stripes. Multi colours and various widths on each sheet. Just had enough of the 1/16th so tried that. Worked perfectly, just needs a little touching up.

Still on finals for both of these. Why does it seem to take as long on the finals as it does on the main build ?

I've found that the Microscale stripes have a pretty short shelf life too. The Xtradecal ones seem a lot better.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Must admit I've found the Xtradecal ones to be far more robust.

The XP-42 is done and dusted. I'll get some photos up when the Goose is finished. Glad I got her finished but she definitely has her better side. I always seem to struggle when I shelve a model. Made a few boo-hoo's on her, some  are down to the kit, some on the other hand  :banghead:

The Goose is almost there. A couple of small sessions should do it, so next week sometime.....probably.

Then I'll tidy the work area up, which I know is seen as a crime by some , and break out the next three or so kits, which will include another one retrieved from the "shelf of doom"

The Goose is done.

I'll get some pics of the Goose and the 42 posted up in the next few days. Not particularly happy with either of them for various reasons, but they're done and I can start on the next couple of builds I have in the schedule in the next couple of days once the work area is tidied up.

Took longer to clean the mess up then I thought, but it's done now. So I have a nice clear work area that I can start messing up again on Monday  ;D

Started working on the RS Models Magister (Maggie Bomber). Quite a busy interior but I doubt much will be visible once assembled so I've no plans to embellish it, just use what comes with the kit, which is more then enough.

Won't get much done this week as it's a busy week. Social and hospital.

I had one of them in my hands in the Hobby Shop the other day.  I put it back on the shelf.

It's not a bad little kit. Plastic is a little on the soft side and the etch is very thin, but it's ok. My only concern is the acetate windscreens

The box art shows the blind flying hood stowed.  Does it come with an erected version as well?

No it doesn't and mine won't have it fitted stowed either.

It does offer spatted or un-spatted wheels and mines due to get the more common un-spatted ones but the legs are easily breakable - ask me how I know ?  :banghead: - so I may end up using the spatted option.
