I can give you some resin spatted if you lose them too...

Cheers mate - noted.

Catch up in person at Northern. Don't forget I've a couple of Spitfires for you  ;D

The Wooksta!

I hadn't forgotten!

Even if I lose the resin spats, I have a mould somewhere...

No problem at the moment Lee. I've put the spats away safely just in case the legs collapse.

The box art shows the blind flying hood stowed.  Does it come with an erected version as well?

No it doesn't and mine won't have it fitted stowed either.

It does offer spatted or un-spatted wheels and mines due to get the more common un-spatted ones but the legs are easily breakable - ask me how I know ?  :banghead: - so I may end up using the spatted option.

Thanks Chris.  I'd have to go with the spats I think.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

So far the Magister is going well, but I'll be fitting the wing (which has the cockpit innards attached) next week and that will be the telling point of the build I think.

Good day at MK yesterday

Got some work done on the Maggister and I now have a complete airframe. I've been pleasantly surprised by the lack of p.s.r. necessary. Yes it needs some, but not much at all

As I'm doing a version of the "Invasion scare" Maggie Bomber I'm wondering whether to cover the front cockpit with a "tarpaulin" and say that in order to lighten the weight the front cockpit was stripped and covered over ?

Found the reference article I need in order to finish the Maggies armament correctly

Got the Gnat out of the box and had a look at it. First impressions ? Lots of parts, especially when compared to the Maggie. Should make a start on her at the weekend as I now have the necessary markings.

Did a little bit of PSR on the Maggister. Didn't need much at all as most of it could be dealt with using PPP and a cotton bud

I've started using Green Stuff a fair bit for any real PSR. Cleans up quite well and you can use Mr Color Thinner on any that goes on the surface of the model and thus avoid losing detail.

Done some work on the Gnat and it is absolutely the best Special Hobby kit I've built  The plastic is a little harder then their usual stuff and thus has more detail and that detail is a lot crisper. The kit has location pins for the main parts and the fit is exceptional so far. The wing to fuselage join in particular is brilliant

I'm a bit out of my comfort zone with a jet. I'm not sure what some of the pieces are in real life, especially in the cockpit, and whereas with a prop job I can use the instructions as an aide memoir I'm having to read them is this one and I'm still left scratching my head with a few bits. Some of the bits are very small as well, but at least they are in plastic, not resin.

I'm already sorely tempted with another of these. Did the Indian's ever consider a version of the Ajeet for naval use aboard their carrier ?

Yes indeed Chris.

The work that was done on the larger wings and tail surfaces was also carried over into what became the Gnat trainer.

So put a prop on it.  ;D

OK, it'd need to be a VERY small one on a Gnat, but perhaps it was a turbo-contra-propped version?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Cheers Jim.

I now have the excuse I need to get a second one

Not done much over the last couple of days as been otherwise engaged, but have got the Maggister ready for priming and realised just how far out of my comfort zone I am with the Gnat. Realised I'm not even sure what the camouflage colours should be, thought I was, but now not so sure. I'll have a look at the weekend and then see if I have them in stock.

Progress.

The Maggister is primed and can now have her yellow undersides sprayed.

The Gnat is really getting there. The actual assembly of the airframe after I'd prepared the cockpit took me all of 15 mins  :o Everything fits together superbly and just clicks/slots into place and with a little bit of glue and capillary action "Bob's your uncle". I had one small spot of p.s.r. needed, but that was where clumsy clogs here had managed to leave a small scar when I'd removed one fuselage half from the sprue  :banghead: I've checked out the camouflage scheme and luckily I do have the paints, as if I'd needed to get them it would have involved some quite long trips on public transport.

This kit is definitely one of and maybe the best fitting kit I've ever built. It really has been a treat to build and is thoroughly recommended.

Anyway the Gnat has moved on so quickly I've broken out the next kit to build. RS Me 509 which will probably be Hungarian.

Hopefully I'll get some photos up tomorrow.
