Not this one Rad  ;)

You have given me an idea for a low level P.R. version however for my "France fights on" scenario. Similar to the "pink" Spitfires. Just wondering what the French P.R. roundels would look like ?

Small.  As for colours, leave them as is - the PRU Pink PR1G had type A roundels anyway.  As for the correct pink - if it's PRU Pink, you'll have to mix your own, as all the released ones are way too "pink" as the real think was an off white.  My recipe for it is a full bottle of Xtracrylix White with 5 to 6 DROPS of Xtracrylix Rad Arrows Red.

Here's one I did earlier:

Spot on Wooksta, leave them standard French markings, and a Pink D.520 would look brilliant.
Lots of possibilities with other French stuff, and what about some other nations too?
I'm horrified to think what a He-111 would look like....it could take lots of photos!!!

Cheers Lee, but being French and thus slightly more flamboyant I'd go with a slightly deeper shade of pink

Anyway both the Martlet and 509 have had their transfers applied. Indeed they are so far down the line that their individual "needs to be done" sheets have been completed and started to be ticked off

The D.520 has had the first coat of her third upper colour. She won't get a fourth as putting it simply there's not enough room !

Started thinking about my next builds. Think I might have a bash at a couple of twin engined types

On a completely different note, a good mate of mine had major heart surgery Thursday night (planned not emergency) and he phoned me up this morning ! Got to go and visit tomorrow at St Thomas's as they are likely to let him go home Tuesday. Amazing

St Thomas's is very near a few of my old haunts back in the late 60's/early 70's so I think I may take a walk after visiting  ;)

Yeah, the brother-in-law had stents installed, and it's a 2-day procedure, with the only reason for the extra being that they have to ensure the femoral artery has healed properly...  :o

Hope your friend is recovered soon.

509 had her undercarriage attached last night, and guess what ? She's a tail sitter  :banghead: Mike M did warn me she needed a lot of weight and there wasn't much room in the nose. I did pack it but obviously I should have put some behind the cockpit rear bulkhead as well, although again there isn't much room that's ahead of the line of the undercarriage.

No problems as she will just be fitted to a coaster base.

Well went to visit my mate at St T's yesterday (he's doing very well ) and decided to take a trip down memory lane at the same time. For those who don't know London St T's is at the southern end of Westminster Bridge opposite the Houses of Parliament. Now back when I was in my late teens we used to visit a few pubs/clubs in that general area (Waterloo, Lambeth North etc) so I had a stroll. Surprisingly quite a few of them are still there  :o and indeed I did pop in one of the old pubs for a quick pint. A few changes inside, a restaurant area, definitely cleaner etc, but despite that it still felt the same. Beer was a little pricier however £3.85 a pint (which is very good for central London) whereas in 68/69 it would have been 1/11 old money  ;D

Anyway the big discovery was that Ian Allen's at the end of The Cut is still open for business  Mainly known as a book shop and speciallising to a large extent in railways they still had a large selection of aviation related books and surprise, surprise a small model section. Not very big, but busy, and quite an eclectic range of kits on sale. More importantly they had a full range of Humbrol and Vallejo AV paints plus tools and other necessary bits and bobs.

Very useful to know and it's probably my nearest model shop, albeit a hour or so away by bus or train.

All in all a good day

Ha!  I used to work round there.  Got tattooed in a shop in The Cut.  Got Drunk in The Wellington, Coat and Badge,  King's Arms...

I remember The Wellington on the day of Buster Edwards funeral (he had run a flower stall under the railway bridge opposite - I'd walked past him many many times without the slightest idea who he was).  We were going to go in there for a drink after work but it was full of large blokes in black overcoats glaring at each other so we went elsewhere.

The Wellington was the pub I popped in yesterday, very nice

We used to drink in a couple of pubs in the Lambeth North area. The Hercules opposite the Tube station and the local nick, and the Lambeth Walk just by the estate of the same name. Now if you wanted a villains pub that was the one to go to in the late 60's. Never realised just how bad it was until a documentary on t.v. a few years ago about London's criminal scene in the 60's. Guys who drank in there at the same time as me talking about disposing of bodies in the Channel as they crossed it smuggling watches or ciggies  :o They were all in their 80's by the time of the documentary, just glad I appologised if I trod on peoples feet on my way to the loo !

Anyway enough of that. Such a nice morning that I got up early and went out onto the balcony (it was that early that the special security squad had to wake the masses camped outside in order to greet their glorious leader  ;D) and matt varnished the 509 and Martlet from a Humbrol can. Wanted to get it done while it was still nice and cool. If I'd tried now I would have no chance as it's baking. (memo to security chief, give the masses a spray with the fire hose  ;))

How kind! The unwashed masses, sweltering in the summer heat must be rejoicing that the  Great Leader has in his generosity given them free showers of cooling water.......and it was no doubt totally accidental that so many were knocked to the ground by the high pressure of his benevolence.

Anyone visiting London who finds themselves in the vicinity of Waterloo station pop in and have a look (and a pint of London Pride).  It has an arched ceiling in the main bar (well it would do, it's in an arch under the railway bridge) with a Battle of Waterloo mural on it.  Wellington on one side and Napoleon on the other.

OK, tourism London advertising over - back to models.

I've only been to the UK once and it was in the Manchester area, Stockport and Cheadle Hulme, been there for 2 weeks and i'd like to go back... but London is also on my list, pretty interesting city.
"Sticks and stones may break some bones but a 3.57's gonna blow your damn head off!!"

I did go and look at the mural just to check it was still there

I'm not really a Pride man I'm afraid - Young's rather than Fuller's - so had a pint of Seafairer ?? Not a bitter I'd heard of but a nice summer pint, quite bitter (some like Pride aren't) and at 3.5% ideal if you are off visiting in hospital

Anyway up early again before it got to hot to model and did some canopy framing, plus started to give the D.520 a coat of two of Klear ready for her transfers.

Getting there
