Martlet's finished and although it's real world here's a couple of pics.

Grumman Martlet Mk.IV of 888 Sqd, F.A.A. HMS Formidable November 1942.

Enjoyed this. 3rd one I've built. Now fancy a couple of real world FAA Hellcats and maybe a What If  GM FM 2 Wildcat ?

Man, that turned out NICE!!  Glorious work!  I've always been a fan of the UK 'Cats.  So "used" to seeing them in USN garb that it's always a nice change of pace.

Lovely model and very nice finish . For years I thought the Wildcat was a British design 'cos of Airfix ;D

Ya, that looks very good, excellent camo!

It's a strange one, but I hate painting that classic FAA scheme but once it's done and matted down I like it ?  :o

They are tubby little things but it does looks nice.

I realised today I have a Wildcat, a Hellcat and a Bearcat in the stash.  This means not only another "siblings" grouping in the same scheme but that this time I can do triplets.  Woo hoo!

I've built a FAA Pacific Fleet Bearcat from the old Monogram/Revell kit. Nice build. Still have a Sword and Art Bearcat in the stash plus another Tigercat (again a Monogram/Revell kit).

We could do with a nice new mainstream, or even Special Hobby, Sword ? Tigercat

Yes, we could!! I'd buy both as i've already built up my Monogram Bearcat and the Tigercat is on my near future to-build list.

I saw a Revel/Monogram Tigercat at a show (either the Nationals or Southern) and picked it up without hesitation. Despite it's age, or perhaps because of it ?, it's a lovely kit to work on, no fuss

Not much work done this weekend. In the pub early yesterday to watch the All Blacks and Lions and then of course the Test Match season is upon us in the UK * Plus it's also to humid if I'm honest. However the D.520 has a lot of her transfers on so is getting there. Hopefully journeys end by next weekend.

* Will the Aussies have a team for the Ashes this winter ? I see the "A" Tour to S Africa has been cancelled over the pay dispute.

I'm almost glad to say that the F3F-F8F family is one area where we in the 1/48 community are way ahead...even a gorgeous XF5F kit too ;D. The early jets are more problematic as the recent Panthers are a tad inaccurate and we have no mainstream Tiger :banghead:. Oh!! for a Jaguar . (early jets count as honorary piston-engines )

DogfighterZen

I'd like to buy more 1/48 planes but i'm already running out of space in the cave with just under 30 built kits... not to mention stash storage space! :banghead:

Yep, as of July 1 there is no pay deal between the players and the authorities.  I don't pretend to understand the ins and outs of it all.  The women's team are OK though.

My understanding is that it's down to the fact that the players (not just Test Team) in Australia received a share of the Board of Control's overall earnings. That contract has come to an end and the BoC don't want to renew that part of it but pay a flat rate. May not be the whole story but as yet it hasn't been big news over here. the nearer we get to the Ashes then the "Qualities" will pick more of it up followed by the "Red Tops" I think.
