To be honest I used to get to a point and then go "oh stuff it, life's to short". I now seem to be far more attentive to them for some reason ?  :o

Anyway no progress at all over the last 2 days. Had I.T. problems  :banghead: Touching wood it's now sorted but took an extraordinarily long time to do and I'm not one of those people who can walk away and let the p.c. get on with it. I have to keep an eye on it  :-\

You have to keep a look out for the pesky critters, they're likely to go off and download all sorts of weird stuff if you don't.  :banghead:

Lovely work on the Hien...works well with the mixed drop tanks too.

Still controversial but the 'clover' is actually a Japanese plant found on  family crests called Katabami. Deciphering the original photos is near impossible but the plants on the creasts are usually black and white...the battle of the 'rivet-counters' continues ;D Amazing how many kit and decal companies fail to look at the photos properly...fuselage guns are missing (blanked over) and the Ki-61s from that unit had the chocolate drab scheme.

The joys of building in whiff-world

Thanks gents

The Hasegawa instructions for this option give you a paint mix that would probably end up as a dirty brown. However as I only have a chocolate brown in Colourcoats enamel's French range and wanted a quick build I went with the green over grey. I don't think the suggested mix was for the red-brown primer used on props and similar which I do have in acrylic. So I suppose it is a wif after all ?

As for the drop tanks ? Just adds a touch of interest and I've done it with a couple of other builds recently. Even if its just one in natural metal and one in painted aluminium it just gives it something in my view. And how often in photos do you see slightly different tanks in use ?

I said I'd post a picture of the Whitley's 3 major sub-assemblies. Well here they are.

Now we see how good Airfix's engineering and tooling is

The Whitley's wing is truly HUMUNGUOUS!  :o

Could be longer though............  ;D

Longer wings would allow you to insert an extra pair of engines!  It would need a longer name too......Armstrong Whitworth Winchelsea, perhaps?

Would it ever land though? The ground effect of those wings extended would be HORRENDOUS!

Make it a great torpedo plane, though!

Hit a bit of a block. No idea why but didn't make any progress over the weekend  :banghead: Just didn't feel "up for it".

Busy over the next 10 days or so, but hopefully I'll at least get the Whitley together and then we will see what Airfix's engineering is like.

Well the three separate parts of the Whitley have come together pretty well  Will need a little cleaning up but not much at all, so well done Airfix. She's quite a large beast on the bench the wings in particular take up a fair bit of room. I've completely forgotten what it's like to build something this large and it's taking a bit of getting back into.

Claude is very near transfer time, whilst the Attacker needs a little more p.s.r. I'm obviously not feeling well as I'm still carrying on working on this rather than starting painting

A BIGGUN from Chris!  Alright!!

Brave man.. I've sworn off anything larger than a single engine piston fighter until at least some time in late October.  ;D
