I almost did the same today when trying buy a new battery for Mrs_PR19's mobile phone.

It seems that mobile phone shops don't sell replacement batteries, you're expected to '...look on the internet.....', which I'd already done and failed, or buy a new phone!!!!

Bloody ridiculous!  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Of course they don't sell them.  Mobile phones are disposable consumer goods now.
Try E-Bay for phone batteries.

I did, and the one I want isn't available.

A very knowledgeable guy in a market stall in Gloucester said 'Yes, they didn't make them for very long because they'd suddenly go flat without warning' which is EXACTLY why Mrs_PR19s phone won't work. This time it won't re-charge either so we've GOT to buy a new phone, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!  :banghead:

Well this sounds familiar... I once had a phone that I rec'd via the "Life line" system for folks on food stamps or other types of assistance. Pretty much a year, nearly to the day, after I got it, the battery went from just fine, to T.U. and it not only did Seppuku on itself but it bloated up and destroyed the phone it was in, as well. Almost as if they designed them that way!

Nah, they'd never do that; being so honest, & generous, & egalitarian, & helpful, as they are! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

No real progress for various reasons. Think I'll just settle for what I've got finished for Telford and get the other two current wif subjects done for Huddersfield.

I blame Ralph Nader for this.

You can tell Chris has a festive period once he's recovered from SMW weekend can't you  ;)

A wise move BTW I know first hand of rushing to finish a build right up to packing it on the day to do set up and its no fun. The model gets rushed and your stressed before a very long and draining weekend. Much wiser to spend the nights before packing and relaxing, possibly even finalise your wants list and where you want to especially visit.

Exactly the plan Geoff

One reason why I stay with my daughter the night before Telford.

Did you know she's the RAF's Best..........Ah, I told you before then?  ;)

Faffing around a bit prior to Telford, can't seem to settle down for some reason ? I've a few S.I.G. admin things to get done and need to sort out some labels and bases for what I'm taking although I think I'll be going extreme minimalist with those. Can't settle down for some reason  :-\

Also having re-checked my train tickets I discover I've managed to get myself booked on one of the through direct trains from London to Telford. I normally change at Brum' and grab some lunch there, but this year looks as though it will be grab some lunch at Telford (not a great choice from what I've seen previously) as I'll have 2 hours to kill before the Halls open. Not a problem, but I'll just need to float around a bit and Telford isn't the best place for that. Basically it's a railway station (why it's called Telford Central when there's only one  :banghead:) a big exhibition centre and that's about it.

Did I say I couldn't settle ? Hopefully be better next week.

(why it's called Telford Central when there's only one  :banghead:)

There used to be three or four stations in the area, Oakengates, Wellington, New Hadley Hall  and Shifnal. When they built Telford Central they renamed Wellington to Telford West and closed New Hadley Hall. Wellington has now reverted to its original name though.

But none of them were actually Telford as far as I understand it Kit ? Why they changed Wellington to Telford W I've no idea, I also didn't know, just glad they changed it back. All part of trying to make a New Town development appear more important than it actually is ?

If I appear to have a downer on Telford, then I don't. It's a very nice area and indeed Ironbridge is one of my favourite industrial heritage sites. It's just like a fair few new town developments they seem to have run out of steam half way through but nobody told the the local powers that be.

To, there never was a station that was just 'Telford', but we're dealing with BR here so logical thought is not something that can be assumed..........  ;D ;)
