Apparently the UK has been hit by "Australian 'Flu" this year & it's one of the worst years for 'flu on record.

Oddly, I never even knew we had a particular 'flu strain that didn't come out of Asia.

Just getting over a rather harsh one myself. Wishes of a fast recovery.

Yup, but apparently the strain is named after where it's first identified as being a "new" one rather than where it originates, so it was obviously first spotted in Aus ? I don't think I've got it - just sniffles, snurgles and a slight temperature - a few friends have been really rough for a couple of weeks even after the flu jab. It's certainly a bad one. After the Ashes it adds insult to injury for sure.

Anyway a little more work on the Tomahawk, I made a right mess of the radiator when I cut it from the sprue and subsequently cleaned it up   :banghead: I blame the softer plastic they've used  , definitely need to take more care when removing from the sprue in future.

Reading in the "my stash etc" section about all these Airfix Phantoms being purchased I'm actually thinking of getting one, even though I think it's one of the ugliest aircraft ever built, and building it in a F.A.A. retro scheme ? Either pre-WWII or WWII ?

Maybe we should have a Phantom GB?  I would of course build an old ill fitting Hasegawa version just to be awkward.

It's not ugly, it's just big boned!

Oh wait... I don't think that works....     ;D

The one that was later re-popped by FROG? Yes, that was a bit of a dog.  :banghead:

I could always try building my Revel F-4B.
Yes the very first kit that came out of the Phantom.
Now does not that take some of us back down memory lane.

No, that was the '66 mould.  The version I have is from the '72 mould.
The number of 1/72 Phantom II boxings that Hasegawa have turned out over the years is quite bewildering.

I still have the boxing where the shark mouths marked aircraft is pulling away after dumping it's load, marked up with a Beatties price tag for £1.80  :o

Built a couple of this boxing in the past including a few with a Hales label

BBC Breakfast had quite a piece on the current flu outbreak this morning and apparently we have 3 strains doing the rounds in the U.K. two of which are the Australian and Japanese strains, the other hasn't been named. Apparently it's the Japanese rather than the Australian one that's causing the current outbreak in the UK (read some papers and you'd think it was a repeat of the 1918 pandemic  :banghead:) so apologies to Australia are due.  ;)

The vaccine given to children covered 4 strains, including the Japanese, the adult vaccine only covered 3 strains and missed the Japanese one.  :-\ I'm not certain but I think I read somewhere that those of us over 65 get a different vaccine than those under 65 ? If I read it correctly than this particular vaccine is meant to be a "multi strain" cover. Not sure how that works so I may well have misread it.

Meanwhile my own particular sniffles and snurgles continues

That's what the 'flu jab nurse told me when I got mine in October last year. She said it was a 'multi strain' jab, but didn't define the 'multi' bit........  :o
