Well I'm feeling quite pleased with myself.   <_< Since I surfaced from my spell in the "pits" I've made a fair bit of progress on all the projects that could have been considered "in progress" and even managed to start on a new one  So :-

Hs 132 - Transfers are going on so she's getting there.

PZL 42 - I've finished painting her and now she need glossing before I can get her transfers done. My she's a fiddly/fussy beast though.

Airfix Hurricane Mk Ib (twin 20mm cannon) - can enter the paint shop.

Airfix Whitley - I've decided what I'm going to do her as so she to can enter the paint shop. Going to get Middle East colours.

Special Hobby B&V 155 - This is the one I started this week and is a really well fitting kit and is going together very nicely (touching wood). I've the prototype boxing, they are just about to release the planned fighter boxing, but mine will be a P.R. aircraft anyway.

Time for an update on the current batch :-

RS Hs 132 - She's finished and I'll post the pics some time this week.

IBG PZL 42 - Transfers are going on. I've used the kit's for the national markings and you could almost make a mug of tea waiting for them to come off the backing paper, seriously  :banghead: I'll be using after market for unit markings etc as the kit only comes with markings for the prototype.

Airfix Hurricane Mk Ib (twin 20mm cannon) - Painting in progress.

Airfix Whitley - No progress. Will need to wait until I return from the frozen North.

Special Hobby B&V 155 - I now have an airframe. This is a great kit which requires hardly any filler at all. Just a little PPP around the large wing mounted radiators. The wing to fuselage fit is superb, just clicks into place

I've been pondering what to start on my return from the frozen north and am looking at the new Airfix MItchell which will be a real world build and the AZ Me 109 K-14. Talking of which does anyone know what colour RLM 99 can be matched to ? Would duck egg green be suitable ?

Also been looking at the IBG 2019 catalogue via the link Hannant's sent through. They do some fantastic looking 1/72 armour, especially some of the Hungarian and Japanese stuff. Could be seriously tempted if it wasn't for the dodgy eye.

"This chart includes all known RLM colours, the colour RLM 84 is not given, since this colour did not officially exist.
Also not given is RLM 99 where 99 means shade irrelevant. RLM 00 means clear vanish."

Thanks Jon. I thought I'd read somewhere that it was a spurious reference.

There's also been thoughts, don't recall exactly at the moment, that
the elusive late-war lightyellowygreenish  ;D colour some call 99
used on undersides was actually just some sort of primer and they
didn't bother painting over it for reasons of expediency.

Make the Mitchell.....

Mitchell was my very first airplane model...   I've even wanted to build one myself since but haven't made time, so you can do it and I will live vicariously.

Certainly sounds reasonable.

The AZ boxing offers 3 "What If" markings choices, all of which look nice and all of which use "RLM 99" to some extent or the other. Think I'll use one of my Duck Egg Greens for it.

I used Humbrol's Hu90 'Beige Green' (sort of equivalent to Sky) on a Revell (ex-FROG) Ta152.

That's an idea Dave  Plus I think I have a tub of it.

Right before I disappear north of Thames here's the current in progress builds.

PZL 42

Hurricane Mk Ib
This is the Airfix rag wing Mk I with the addition of the Freightdog 20mm gun pods. These were actually trialed on the rag wing Hurricane but not proceeded with. She's now had a second coat of dark earth and doesn't look quite so tatty.

I have a couple of these sets and very nice they are to. I was thinking of adding a pair to one of the Airfix Spitfire Mk I's in the stash as a wif and then whilst looking at my Morgan and Shacklady's "Spitfire the History" for something completely different last night noticed the piece on the proposed alternative cannon armament for the Mk I's and saw that the fitting of these was actually proposed. Great minds or what ?

B&V 155
This is the Special Hobby kit of the prototype, they now do a what if of the proposed fighter in service, which I will be doing as a high altitude reconnaissance aircraft.

PZL 42

I may be wrong, but it seems to me that one of the national markings is incorrectly imposed.

If you mean the checkerboards on the fins then I must have checked the instructions a dozen times because I was also concerned they were wrong. I also checked the same company's (IBG) PZL 37 and they are the same. Reasoning that as the producers themselves are Polish I went with their instructions, but I still have this niggle in my gut.

Thanks for bringing it up

Some may have noticed that I sometimes place my models on small bases when photographing them (sometimes if I'm honest because there isn't enough nose weight  :banghead:) anyway they are cheap coasters. I found I was running out of these this morning so popped into Poundstore and grabbed a little bundle of 6, went to the till and handed my £1 coin over only to be told they were reduced to 25p a pack. I now have 24 of the things, should see me through  ;D I might need some more scenic scatter stuff though  ;)

PR19_Kit

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
