Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Now I've completed these 3 I've moved on to the next 3 on the list.

A new tool Airfix Mitchell, the recently re-released Airfix Hawker Typhoon and the AZ Me 109K-14.

2 of these will be built real world whilst the 109 is a wif in a box.

The Typhoon is one of Airfix's earlier kits during this most recent resurrection of the company and does not, perhaps, have the same level of finesse as, say, the Mitchell for instance. Never the less it is still very nice and goes together well and easily. The only noticeable difference between this recent release and the earlier ones is that this one has some very thin flash around some of the smaller detail parts in particular. Nothing that a seconds work with a new No 11 blade can't deal with, but it is noticeable, and yes I did compare it with one of my boxing's of the first release. I wonder if it's a "function" of the softer plastic Airfix seem to use ?

Been a bit busy with other things this week, so not much progress. However I have been getting on with some sub-assemblies on the Typhoon and there's quite a few you can get done. I'll get the paint out on these over the weekend hopefully. I have decided to not open the gun bays on this one though. You get some quite nicely detailed interiors and doors, but I showed one bay open on my previous build so this one will be buttoned up. I'm also going to show her without rockets, she will have the rails but as this is post War I thought the actual whizz bangs would be inappropriate ? So thanks Airfix for supplying them as separate items

Started to get some paint on the interiors over the weekend. I've one "real" job to attend to this week and then hopefully I can get some serious modelling done over the next couple of weeks.

Look at you sneaking more builds past me!  ;D  They look great, dude!!!  Love the Blohm & Voss, for sure, for the long wings and novelty. Looking forward to that next one....     ;)

Handle that "real" job, then "back to work."  ;D     (this sounds painfully familiar.... )

The "real" job was collecting and then setting up a new printer for my laptop. The old one decided it only wanted to print black  :banghead:

Got a good deal on one, half price, and it's wireless. Wasn't difficult to set up but it was long winded and boy do they want to know a lot about you  :-X

Still it's done now so I can get back to some modelling

You've done more than I have in that realm. I started to set mine up 2 years ago and found I was missing a cable and the project has been on hold ever since.  ;D

Not trying to reinvent the wheel here.... simply attach a printer to a computer with the end goal of trying my hand at printing decals. Oh, and having a printer is simply nice as it is... but oh well.  :-X

I know what you meant. The first one I got, eons ago  ;D, was simply hard wired to my P.C. You simply plugged two cables in and that was it. This new one has more software loaded then my first P.C. had, basically set it'self up so not a problem, but I do wonder what half the software is for. Some of it appears to be "self ink ordering software" ! Needless to say it's turned off

Some progress.

The real world Typhoon is together and can now start to see paint  and I've started on the new tool Airfix Mitchell. Once again it will be a real world build. So far it's going together very well indeed. It's quite interesting ; although the Typhoon is a nice kit and goes together nicely the new Mitchell is right up there with the best. You can see the progress Airfix have made in front of you in the box  The only slight downside to them is the plastic they use. Just a little on the soft side of the spectrum. There's obviously a reason for its use, cost ? but if they used a slightly harder plastic there would be very little to fault, if any.

There's been some progress even though I'm not 100% in the mood.

Paint has started to go on to the Typhoon, whilst the Mitchel is going together really well.

I'm really impressed by both the thinking behind how the Mitchel goes together and the accuracy of the fit it'self. You really do need to read the instructions however to get the full benefit from the quality of the tooling. Airfix have taken a couple of interesting approaches to the build process which you could quite easily miss out on and spend an age wondering how something fits, when by just looking at the instructions it's simple  ;)

That Hurricane sure looks good ! Those colours look so good with the yellow.

Please keep plugging along!! Mitchell is always a good subject if you ask me. I'm going to have to pick one up myself, being new and all. One of the very first aircraft models I ever made was a Mitchell.

My Revell 1/48 B-25J has moved from the shed into my new modelling room. No plans to build it, just yet. ;D

I agree. There's something about the yellow spinner which sets it off. It's quite unusual to find a Fighter Command aircraft of that period with anything other then a "normal" coloured spinner, and for this Hurricane to have had personal art as well made my day when I found the sheet in the collection  The only whiffery about it is the two 20mm guns.

I've said many times before, but these "Sky" transfers sheets are tremendous value for money and perfect for our needs
