Now that's that forward thinking I like! The short term memory will have dispensed with this knowledge but when you crack open that kit you'll be well informed!   To this effect I've been taking your advice on note taking lately and applying it to models and other things as well and it's been tremendously helpful.  I have saved myself already from tons of stress and wasted time.    I kept thinking, "Remember, Chris kept telling me to take notes, I should do that..."   I can credit you for helping lower my blood pressure.  ;D

I've made a note to remember to remind myself to write me a note about starting to take notes...

;D

I've said it before but it bears repeating  IF YOU DIDN'T WRITE IT DOWN IT NEVER HAPPENED   I'm very glad that I was taught to make proper notes early in my education. It's got me out of a great many elephant traps over the years.     I know that Chris and many others here can tell similar stories!

It  means that you read  the instruction sheet

So if I don't write down "wash the parts before assembly" on the instructions of my second MiG 21 Analogue then I will never have ripped paint off with masking tape on the first one?
Cool.

Seriously depends on two things :-

1) How long it is between builds ?

2) How old you are ?

There is possibly a mathematical relationship between question 2 and question 1, but I won't go into that now.

And I am not joking.

I have a series of docs right on my desktop with names like "Mass Effect Notes."  "Music Notes" and whatever the other ones are. I rely on this stuff more than I'd like to admit. At one point I spent over an hour trying to recall a name of a page on Youtube before I gave up. Then I did it again even after I found it. I finally made a note of it and the NEXT time I forgot, I went to my notes and saved however many hours. Had I made note of it in the first place I would have saved a couple of hours of wasted time.   Proof of concept and I avoided all the frustration of dealing with a mystery.  Dr. is happy with the BP count, as I said....  ;D

Seriously, I can make notes and then ignore them.
Building the Analogue I wrote NOSE WEIGHT in big letters on the instructions in the relevant box.
Did I put any in before closing the fuselage?  Did I feck.

Ah right. I'm lucky in that I've always been one of those people who once I write something down I will remember it. That's why I was good at "O" Levels as they were mainly about regurgitating what you'd been taught (some subjects were different, English Language for instance) it wasn't until "A" Level that you had to apply/give a view on what you'd been taught.

Please note I am going back to the mid 60's here  ;)

Meanwhile painting continues with the Whitley and the CR 32 may well start seeing paint this weekend.

Well I can, and I was............
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

16 in 68 - left school, went to work, got drunk for the first time in a dance hall and had first girl friend

17 in 69 - first holiday with mates rather than parents or the school, first holiday romance

And then the 70's came along  ;)

Some progress all round and most importantly I think I've decided on where the Whitley's demarcation line between its upper and lower colours will go. I think it's the high wing of the thing that's been throwing me ?

As an aside I've been building a few AZ kits lately and I think some of them have a plastic that doesn't particularly like Tamiya Extra Thin ? They tend to have a bit of a "surface" over reaction ? Nothing to bad but the plastic can get to soft and craze a little.

Anyway dug around and found a bottle of EMA Plastic Weld and they love it. Need to get some more at the London show.

You've made me go look at both that EMA glue and AZ models... ended up in scalemates to check the origin of their 2 new chopper kits and the Gazelle is supposed to 1/48 but it says on scalemates that it's the old Heller 1/50 kit... not that it matters that much , the difference will probably be minimum so, no too bad. The Allouette III is also Heller, the 1/72 kit.
There are a few others that interest me so, i'll be taking a good look at their kits in a few months...
The one that surprised me was the Spitfire Mk. IX with the lowback fuselage and teardrop canopy. I thought that the first lowback had been the Mk.XIV but again, learning something new by coming over to read your blog.
