I find that Humbrol Satin is more like gloss, and their Matt is more like Satin. :(

This acrylic satin I've used is almost matt and to say it streaks is putting it mildly

I've only used the 'enamel' Satin and Matt. Looks like they're radically different to the acrylics.

I'm giving up on them and going back to my Windsor and Newton Galleria. I just didn't have any of their satin.

Progress continues on the 162, Ki-102 and Hurricane.

Kawasaki Ki-102 b

I've no idea what the collective noun for a group of sub-assemblies is, but "ensemble" sounds good so here we have an ensemble of sub-assemblies. They have now got some paint on them

He 162

Progress has been good and here she is waiting patiently in her pen for transfers, which she now has.

Not much progress today, real world, or what stands in for it nowadays, kicked in. However whilst checking something for my Ki-102 build I discovered that the German's tried to negotiate a licence agreement to build the Ki-46 Diana, could be an interesting build ?

This pic would appear to show the Germans had at least one...

...except that is a green cross as its a post surrender aircraft in Japan.  Hard to tell in B&W though.

A German Ki-46iii captured by the Russians would make a nice build for the "Captured" GB.  Especially if re-engined with Klimov V12s.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I've seen that captured Ki-46 photo a few times in books and I've also heard of it being used to "prove" the German's did indeed have one  :banghead:

I was wondering what engines it would have had if the German's had got a licence ? As  it happens the Russian's don't have to capture a German one they could have got one during the Manchukuo "incident" ?

Meanwhile progress continues and after a session putting stencils on the He 162 she is ready for her matt coat. Some of the stencils are tiny, but all are perfectly legible, which is a huge credit to the people who produced them  I haven't used some of them though as I feel that to many stencils can "swamp" a model, especially in 1/72 and distract from the actual scheme.

I might have to get one now, although mine would have to be RAF as a captured aircraft.  I've yet to see anyone do one in Czech markings...

Oddly enough Lee I was musing either a Czech one or one sold by them to the Israeli's ?

Anyway it's that day again so ........... Hooray, hooray, the first of May, outdoor sex begins today.  ;D I'd like to see you explain that one to the old Bill in the middle of a lock down ; "but officer, it's a tradition"  ;)

Some progress on all the current projects, but I'm at the stage where you do a lot of small things whilst not appearing to make much overall progress. It's why I like to have 3 on the go at once, but I've obviously got my timing out as they are all at that "small things" stage.

One thing I have noticed about the Hurricane is that the fuselage has a little bit of scarring, not much, but a little bit worrying as it's not that old a kit. Does anyone know if this was one of the toolings Airfix had done in India ?

The Wooksta!

Why would the Czechs buy them from the Isrealis?  Surely t'other way round?

Alternates?  Yugoslav - bought from the Czechs or Argentina - pattern aircraft smuggle via u-boat.
