.... Lots of touching up coming I feel.

:o ;)  Careful there, you can get arrested for that sort of thing!   ;D

It's OK Nick, I've already warned his social worker.

And she's a very understanding young lady  ;)

Just to show that I am making progress, here's where I am with the Raiden

My first thought on seeing that was Wildcat. A more studied look shows the differences. It looks good already.

Old Wombat

Ha! A mere snack for my CAC CA-14A Sea Wallaby! ;D ;)

'Tis looking good, Chris!

Raiden looks very good Chris.  I can picture one with a white tail.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Considering its age the Raiden is a very nice kit, you do have to keep reminding yourself how old it is though and thus to expect a little more work that with a modern tooling.

The Tamiya paint on the other hand ? The underside IJN Grey went on perfectly, but the IJN Green on the top surface is  :banghead: It's had three coats and some areas still need another. It's almost as if the pot was "airbrush ready" ? Which is a pain if you use a brush. I know it's fairly old, but I won't be buying any more Tamiya paints.

Both the Raiden and 406 have had two gloss coats now, so might be ready for transfers this weekend.

Been sorting my 2021 diary out so I know when I need to start sorting things out for GB's etc. A lot to do in the next few months and I'm at an age when unless I make copious notes I'm likely to forget  ;)

I've always made copious notes ever since a chemistry master explained to a 12 year old young Rheged that it was vital to record every step of an experiment. His phrase "If it's not written down it never happened" has stuck with me since...............and dug me out of lots of potential elephant traps in the last 56 years

It  means that you read  the instruction sheet

I'm one of these lucky people who, if I write something down then I remember it when required.

Quite helpful when sitting O Levels all those years ago  ;D

My version of that says 'If there aren't any pics, it doesn't exist'  ;D

Which is probably why most of my builds have WELL over 20 pics attached!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

And I suppose we have to bear in mind that mankind was drawing/carving pictures long before he started to experiment with writing, and I bet that was invented by the earliest accountants ?

Started to lay some transfers down

A mix of Kopra, which came off the backing sheet as soon as they saw the water, Special Hobby, which took 30 seconds or so and Hasegawa which you could seriously go and make a cup of tea while they decided to allow themselves to be placed on the model.

Also Hasegawa supplied the white outlines to the Hinomaru as individual white roundels, so some tricky placement coming in the next day or so.

Looking good... And that canopy is excellent, as always. You sure know how to mask them clear bits.

Thankyou, but I can't claim any credit for the canopy. Totally down to Peewit canopy masks, as good as Eduard's in my opinion and sometimes cheaper. Whenever I buy a new kit nowadays I always check to see if there are Peewit or Eduard masks and a Yahu instrument panel available.

In the meantime phase 2 of the Raiden's transfer job is complete. Probably another 2 phases to go through.
