I hope things improve for you Chris, nothing worse than not feeling too well with a bunch of projects all needing to be finished off.

Cheers gents. No real idea what the hell I've got, but it's taking its time to clear up totally that's for sure. Hopefully feel like being able to get down to a little bit of modelling tomorrow.

Not been able to get down to any modelling last couple of days and I've now got to settle down to my new specs. Finally picked them up this morning  Not as expensive as I thought because Boots were giving a 20% over 65 discount which in my case came to over £60  ;D So for once they were far, far cheaper then the last pair I got

Managed to get a little modelling done over the last couple of days, very little progress, but at least it's progress  Mainly been getting some transfers on the current projects and hopefully start making more progress, including my GB project, this coming week.

Still not 100% what I had/have and neither more importantly has the Doc  although she has ruled out the nastier possibilities . Her current thinking is that I'll be fully recovered before she knows what it is  Still struggling a bit with the new glasses/lenses but we're getting there.

One oddity with the USAAF option in the new tool Airfix Spitfire is that they don't supply the overpainted RAF roundels as transfers and you are meant to mask and paint them ? Booger that for a game of soldiers as they say. I've painted over a spare (I have loads) type B roundel for the upper wing and don't think I'll bother with the lower as it won't notice ?

I would agree, and in fact I would have thought you could have gotten away with just a slightly differently-coloured patch on the upper wing, without having to paint over a transfer? JMHO

You almost certainly could, it's just in my case it was almost certainly easier to use a painted transfer.

Is this the new 1/72 Vc Chris?
Does it come with parts to build it without the tropical kit?

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Yes it is the new tool kit and yes whilst the non tropical parts are not marked they are on the sprues, as are clipped wings. You've just got to figure out how to use them yourself.

Meanwhile the main transfers are now on. I've read a few reviews/builds of this kit and all have mentioned problems with the shark's mouth and getting it to conform to the curves of the nose. The transfer comes as a single piece and I could see that being awkward. So I cut it into 3 and it went on easily, am I missing something ?

Just got the stencils etc to go on now and one lesson learnt is to use warm water and keep it warm. With such the transfers come off the backing paper nice and quickly anywhere near cool and they take as long as some Japanese brands.

Useful to know Chris. I guess that's true for all 'new' Airfix decals?
