Those Flitzers are not as simple as they look. You need to manage the tail build carefully or it will sit wonky.
The canopy is a pain too.

I got the tail ok first time, more by luck then judgement, but the canopy is a right pain. It's getting there though.

The wheels are horrid too. They're too thick if they sit in the wheel wells and just don't look German. I replaced them on mine with 190 wheels.

Must admit I know what you mean by "not looking German". I might have a rummage in the spares box.

I might have some spare He 162 wheels kicking about.

If there's a colour I dislike painting more than white it's yellow ! and that's even with the pink undercoat trick  :banghead:

Very little progress as I've not been 100% the last week, still got some work done on the ongoing projects plus started the AZ Me 109 E. This will be a minimal paint whiff and I'm really just building it to see what it goes together like. The F/G/K's go together very well and so far so does this. After it's done I'll be building the Special Hobby E to "compare and contrast".

Coming week is quite busy diary wise so doubt if I'll make much progress, but we'll see,

The Special Hobby kit is apparently Eduard plastic.  They've just reboxed it.

You talking about the Special Hobby Me 109e Lee ? My impression is that it's a new tool, certainly doesn't look like anything I've seen before. Or do you mean it's been tooled by Eduard for SH ?

Mind you I do get the impression that the dividing line between Special Hobby and Eduard is getting ever narrower.

It's a Special Hobby kit, but it's a bit of a collaborative effort. It's based on Eduard's CAD drawings of their 1/48 109E, but the tools have been cut by a third company.
It seems the involved parties were happy with this effort. V. Sulc of Eduard said on a Czech forum that there are plans for a similar collaboration that is to result in a 1/72 Tempest. He announced that before Airfix announced their Tempest, so I don't know if Airfix' plans has had any effect on Special Hobby's plans.
Cheers,
Moritz

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Sounds eminently sensible to me

Thanks for that confirmation

Very little progress on any on-going project and nothing new started. Various reasons, but mainly down to the fact that I am not happy with my new glasses at all and they are seriously affecting my modelling.  Been back a couple of times to Boots with them, but I'm going back again tomorrow and this time I want a "second  opinion". Lets just say it could get interesting as I'm not happy at all, they've had over £200 and I just get the feeling there's something not quite right going on.

I had a problem with them and glasses as well. I recently went to a different company and my vision is now vastly improved.

Had a series of interesting discussions with Boots this morning and by the end of them we had gathered quite an audience and you could see they were getting concerned by that audience, especially as I didn't once raise my voice.

Upshot is that they are going to go back to square one and provide me with another pair and we'll see what happens from there. Probably take a couple of weeks.

Yup you do have to be firm at times. I must admit I've definitely got the feeling they are trying to avoid something ?

I've used SpecSavers, which I believe is a UK-based company, for the last 14 years (ever since I needed spec's) & never had any issues with mine.

Only time I used the Australian company, OPSM, the spec's were just a fraction better than useless. :banghead:
