My normal postal service is very good and I have the same postman 5 days out of 6. He tends to come between 11:30 and midday. So as things stand I'm quite happy with my normal service. It was this just gone Christmas period where they were also hit bad by Covid and management just hadn't allowed any room to manoeuvre as far as staffing was concerned.  :banghead:

Euston?  :-\

Just getting there is a pain, I think it's the only main like station in London that ISN'T on the Circle Line, and 'Euston Square' station, which IS on the Circle Line, is a fair old stop from Euston itself. I try and avoid going there whenever possible, :(

Oddly from south of the river it's one of the easiest. Victoria Line from Victoria.

or the black one (been a longtime - Northern Line?) from London Bridge or Waterloo.

Yup two distinct branches of the Northern Line, one of the few Tube lines brave enough to come south of the River , just a tad longer journey than from Victoria and until recently the service to LB from Crystal Palace wasn't that great and went the "long way" round.

Northern Line's part closed south of the river for upgrades to Bank at the moment as well.

Some progress, Arsenal and P-43 detailed in their own pages, but the Beaufort is now ready for it's transfers and then we are on "finals" which always seem to take 3 times longer than you initially think.

Going to try not to start anything new before I go off to visit my tribe next week, but I've said that before  ;D

Now't to do with modelling but an "interesting" experience when I was out this morning, especially given the recent change to the UK's Highway Code with it's emphasis on pedestrian, cyclists and horse riders safety. I should state at this point that I don't drive and thus am a pedestrian.

Went out a little latter than usual and had the "school run" to contend with. As I approached a T Junction which can get busy at this time of the morning I slowed up as there were cars attempting to turn right into the busy main road. Lucky I did. The junction on the side I was approaching border on a piece of derelict land with a 6 foot high fence around it. As I stepped towards the curb I pulled to a dramatic halt as a woman was driving her car on the pavement, not just her nearside wheels but actually mainly on the pavement, in an attempt to avoid the queue to turn right so she could turn left. There is no way she could see who was approaching the junction on the pavement from where she was, so lucky I wasn't a schoolkid with my head buried in a "device". Once she stopped she actually had the temerity to wave me on ! Needless to say she got a few choice words and then I got my phone out in a show of taking her photo, with licence plate, for the local cops.  It was only at that point she started to look apologetic and mouthed "sorry".

So, so much for the new Highway Code which has as much chance of changing drivers attitudes towards pedestrians etc as a snowflake does of surviving in hell. Now I know these things can work both ways and a lot of pedestrians can be just as careless, but they are far more likely to suffer serious injury than a car user and that's why the Code was rewritten in the main. Do the people who write these things actually live in the real world or do they actually live on the disused airfield which they use to show off all their changes to the tv companies  :-X

Where's the Old Bill when you want them ? In the local coffee shop or simply cruising around. You don't see them out and about on their feet anymore that's for sure  :-\

My sincere hopes for your continuously improving traffic environment, gentlemen.

I don't know how it is in other countries anymore since it's been a good few years since I travelled. Back home, Howe, there basically isn't any police outside the major cities. The countryside and the smaller towns are left to their own devices which has a certain prioritising effect on the general behaviour. Speed limits fast become very optional, however should anyone harm someone else or even put them in severe danger, retribution is swift and merciless. And more so when burglars and thieves are caught in the act.

I'm split on this as too many laws these days are unrealistic and plain politicians election bribing, but going full medieval because the modern society's justice system has retreated isn't right either. It's difficult.

So are you saying that if you catch a burglar you are allowed to "punish" them?
Sounds fair to me.

Sorry if I was unclear. No, we're formally not "allowed" to catch and punish on our own, but in the total absence of public law enforcement, inhabitants do what they have to do.

So what you are saying is that if the body of a known burglar were found hogtied naked in a ditch come the spring thaw then no-one would try too hard to collect evidence?

When my brother had a pig farm he told me of a story about another farmer who'd fallen through the roof of one of his pens whilst doing repairs and unable to move had not been discovered for a week or so (lived on his on) or at least what was left had not been discovered. I still eat bacon  ;)
