... but not from the same farm!

Back then we tended to always eat Danish Bacon for some reason. It was what all the supermarkets stocked and was cheaper. So not from the same farm  ;D

According to an old schoolmates dad, who was a copper, the use of pig farms to dispose of your recently deceased enemies was a well known practice amongst the darker criminal world back in the 50's and 60's. Never been sure how true that was, there were some documented cases, but not many, or if he was just trying to impress us 11 year olds ? He was just a "beat copper" when we used to have them. Decent bloke beneath the gruff exterior  ;D

Yep.  Pigs are omnivores and will eat anything.

There is an Australian nature doco called Razorback...

Oh I know that. When my brother had pigs I used to feed them occasionally when visiting and whist the boar, Sammy, was as gentle as anything and his current harem wasn't to bad it was the nursing mothers who were lethal if you weren't careful. They were much more interested in getting water than food and could almost climb over the low wall to reach you if you had the hose. Dangerous animals if not treated with care. I'm told free range pigs, which a lot are nowadays aren't so bad.

There are warnings about wild boar in the Forest of Dean being  dangerous.  That area also has the Severn Bore.....another lethal phenomenon...............and Kit complains about Australian wildlife!!

Come to think of it, I went to a lecture in Chepstow some years ago, which I think was given by the Severn Bore............

Hehehehe, but at least the Boar are large enough to see, and they don't move all that fast.

As for the Bore, why do you think my house is 175 ft ABOVE the high tide mark?

The boars can be pretty quick, should they want to. I've been overtaken by a big male while doing the allowed 50 km/h on a minor road. And he didn't even get a ticket..

Yup. I've seen boars moving fairly quickly when in Holland back in the day and Wart Hogs can be pretty quick as well.

Meanwhile on the modelling front  ;D

Some progress on all three current projects. The Arsenal has had its transfers applied and now needs her canopy framing doing, for which I will be using painted transfer strips as the delineation of the vac-form canopy isn't that distinct and there's a lot of them. The Beaufort has had her paint touch-ups and can now move forward to the transfer stage. The P-43 also makes progress and is a nice kit that goes together well, once you get past the instructions.

There won't be any progress for 10 days or so though as I'm off visiting the tribe in the next few days.

Spent part of the morning at one of my local hospitals. Appointment was bang on time and it was 5 minutes to check details, quick eye chart read, eye drops and then a 20 minute wait doing the crossword followed by 2 minutes to take 4 photos of eyes. All very efficient, friendly and on time

Then I had to get from the Retinography Department to the main entrance/exit and I got completely lost, I think it took longer to find my way out than the appointment did   :banghead: Now anyone who knows Mayday, or Croydon University Hospital as it's now official known, will know that it's core is Victorian and ever since they've just added to it when necessary. Even the "temporary" 60/70/80/90's prefabricated additions seem to have just been placed where there was a suitable space. Now in fairness my eyes were very blurry after the drops but it took me 15 minutes at least to get out and at one point I found myself back where I started  :o

So is there at Saturday night tv show here ? A race between couples in your local hospital of suitable vintage to see who can find their way from Ward A to the café for instance the quickest ?  ;) ;D

Sounds like you were trying to navigate Temple University Medical Center in Philly - where none of the towers have their floors aligned with the others.  Transferring a patient there from University Hospital in Newark on time, we got lost trying to find the right tower, floor, ward, and room.  Most confusing.

At least getting to the NJDOC ward at St Frank's in Trenton was fairly straightforward.

I think hospitals being confusing is a worldwide phenomenon.
Even the small dental hospital down here near me manages to bamboozle.  And for the same reason Chris states - growth.  Over the years they've just plonked down portables wherever there was room with no thought for ease of navigation.

In our undergraduate Astronomy club, we would test new recruits by taking them to the UCLA Center for Health Sciences building (which was also a hospital) late at night and telling them to find their way back. We would usually drop them off in front of the human dissection lab (which has an a display of preserved body parts) and we would just walk away.

If you know your way,  the walk back to the Math Science building is maybe 10 minutes. The average recruit would take an hour or more!

Many years ago, BBC North East & Cumbria did a spoof report about someone getting lost in the Metro Centre at Gateshead.  Wooksta might remember Mike Neville the presenter doing it absolutely dead-pan straight faced.

Then a few weeks later, there was a genuine report of this happening!!!

Was the idea for them to navigate by the stars?
