This is awesome - a radio-controlled B-29 that drops a rocket-powered Bell X1 model!

That was awesome, but I thought the x-1 was in the belly of the b-29.

It was in the real world one, but I guess they built the B-29 first and thought about adding the X-1 later.

The low inverted pass was spectacular but a tad unrealistic for a Superfort I thought.

If they did, they didn't survive to tell the tale I suspect........

Remember the barrel roll of the prototype 707 over the sea-fair? I bet a 29 could roll, but also wonder if it could hold inverted for a pass, at low level.

I doubt if FI-FI's guardians would want to try.

Indeed, but Tex Johnson maintained a positive G all through the roll. That low pass in the vid was sustained all the way across the field with 100% negative G.
