I remember finding an interesting sea-plane design on retro-mechanics site but I can't find it anywhere.  It was this really slick aerodynamic looking seaplane.  Anybody know what I'm talking about?
That being said, I'd like to remind everybody in a manner reminiscent of the SNL bit on Julian Assange, that no matter how I die: It was murder (even if there was a suicide note or a video of me peacefully dying in my sleep); should I be framed for a criminal offense or disappear, you know to blame.

Looks like they started with a Cessna 208!

One of the more exotic seaplane designs I've seen is the Chaparral by Lnago. Not sure if it is "retro" or "dieselpunk", though...

Another unusual design.

Flying Wing / Flying Boat... Hmmmmm...The wheels are turning.

Where did you find this?

Savoia S-55? That's pretty close to a flying wingboat.

Indeed yes... So nice  I built it twice. First was the Ringo 1/48th years ago, second time in paper and wood in 1/144.

And then there's the Delta/Supermodel kit in 1/72 scale too.

No -- it never progressed past the drawing board.  It was very blended in shape...

Not one you'd recommend then? I'd love to build an S-55 (1:72 of course), but I didn't know of any kits.

KJ: You'll need to be a bit more specific than "slick, aerodynamic and blended". Date, size, nationality/company, number of engines, radial/inline etc? Any and all of that would be useful.

It's buildable, and I've seen two really well done models from that kit, but it's quite a lot of work and it has some fit problems. That stopped me building mine for some years now. AFAIK it's the ONLY 1/72 kit of the S55 though.

Does anybody know where is this armada of SM-55's to be seen and what is the scale? Looks bigger than 1:72 to me.

I've seen that piccie before and I have an idea it was at a commemoration of Balbo's massive formation flight to the Chicago World's Fair.

They started from Orbetello on the west coast of Italy, a place I'd LOVE to visit. Not only does it have flying boat connections (some of the flying boat base ramp is still there!) but it just looks such an amazing place.

Thanks, PR19!
I have this picture from the web - found it when researching Balbo's formation flights some time ago. Do you remember is this "diorama" in a museum or just at some exhibition place (I think it's a museum ).
