Great work there.......just seems to me ( my opinion n not a criticism) that clearance at the rear is minimal.......great conversion n paint though...........H

Two Avon 300s in a Crusader? Now that's got to go like CRAZY!

I like the F8U-3 style folding ventral fins too.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

I like the F8U-3 style folding ventral fins too.

There is a COMMON problem that connect the F-8U3 ventral fins and the minimal clearance....

The problem is that the original Main Landing gear of the Monogram Crusader IS TOO LOW.

I was obliged to cut at half the F-8U3 fins because the fins was touching the ground!!!

Since that I was aware of the problem, if the original Monogram's Crusader sit on the tail in origin the my modifications could have done all worst.
So, to solve the problem of the too few rear clearance I have added a FAIRING where to place the original Main Landing gear:

but this was not enough.

In the beginning I do apply apair of very big additionals fins as in the true F-8U3:

but before of to complete the model I was obliged to cut them in half....

Well, I think that is fantastic - definite Whiffies material!

Superb! Now that's a big mouth intake

The intake is the same of the LIGHTNING...

I have copied with the resin the original air intake front ring from the Airfix Lightning.

and adapted the EE LIGHTING's ring to the enlarged Crusader front:
