After I finished my F-16-2A it was suggested that I do a build the opposite way around. Well here it is....













Mainly Hasegawa components with donations from Revell and Academy as well.

OK Kit......

Basic airframe unless stated otherwise is a Hasegawa Mitsubishi F-2A.
Cockpit from the rear of the ejector set forward to the radome is from a Revell F-16B kit which has a spare single seat front fuselage.
Cockpit interior including ejector seat and main canopy is from a Hasegawa F-16CJ.
From Hasegawa Weapons set X13 including the pylons for the Aim-120B's and the Sidewinders were also from that set.
All the Harms and their pylon adaptors were from the Academy F-16CG/CJ kit.

Paint scheme from the Academy F-16 but colours are from the Hasegawa F-16 as are the decals other than those for the weapons that came from the same sources as the weapons.

That's all there is to it Kit

The most obvious external differences between a Mitsubishi F-2 and an F-16 are that the F-2 is larger and has a different canopy.

This F-2 / F-16 mix also seems to have an "American style" fin, without the large drogue parachute housing seen on the F-2 and many export F-16s.

Excellent, I see it all now gentlemen, and thanks. 

It rather begs two questions.....

Do the changes they made to the F-2 make THAT much of a difference to the performance of what is basically the same aeroplane, and....

If they do make that much difference how come they don't do the same things to the US built versions?

According to Wikipedia  :

the F-2 "is essentially an execution of the F-16 Agile Falcon proposal: a late-1980s plan for an enlarged F-16 which was passed over by the U.S. in favor of an all-new fighter program (Joint Strike Fighter)."

To minimize weight gains caused by the larger size, F-2 has lots of different structural solutions (composite materials), so it is not quite the same as an F-16 under the paint.
