Prioritising against space - a proper pain as you're at it, but usually quite relieving once you're there and unpacks it, I find. That said, I've only once ever exhibited a model, but then again - that won me a flight in a RSwAF trainer. Good times!

...and while I'm here, I have to admit I find all of your building threads somewhat confusing. There's so many Lightnings that aren't really Lightnings and I'll be damned if I can remember which one is which when reading your blog. As a matter of fact - I'm impressed you can!

But the look awesome! And I am excruciatingly jealous of your model shows over there..

TBH, I'm not sure which thread is which with regard to the P8s.

1st one was the Air Fighting Development Squadron, based on Alistair's first print.

V2.0 is the revised version of the Gannet kit

V3.0 is the one based on a resin fuselage taken from a master by TsrJoe

V4.0 is the two seater

V5.0 is the one made from gash Gannet bits with the Novo Lightning F6 wings

And the P6 is the single engined one.

Simples!

TBH, even I don't know how I do it!  Perhaps a touch of Aspergers but more likely years of practice building double digit fleets of Spitfires.

No need to apologise. That's the whole reason for the comments being in a separate thread - you lot can talk nonsense, go off piste, etc, and it doesn't clog up the main thread.  The main thread is MINE and only I talk nonsense there.

Only double digit fleets of Spitfires?

Surely TRIPLE digits by now?  :o

In total yes, but even I'm not mad enough to be trying to finish 100+ Spitfires in a few weeks.  The most I ever did was 60-ish for Telford 2012 and even then, many of them were worked on throughout the year.

Really sorry 'bout the paint. I can surely relate.. :-\

Interesting insight in your whiffing strategy. I'm not anywhere near that, mainly focussing on the shape and general paint scheme, in many cases even leaving unit marking out entirely (blaming wartime toning down, if I have to), but I can see and appreciate your thinking and the effort you put behind it. Even if you make your own life more troubled.. ;)

Good to see your progress, though. I need a good example to follow right now. I've been caught up in sorting stashTM and then my library for over a fortnight now, and i sorely need some inspiration to get back to building myself. Sorting was good, but I should have started with the books instead of the hours - now I'm stuck reading rather than building..

Glad you're not thinking of using the Omega fin badge for the Navy Lightning. As you say, it's so hackneyed by now, and if they'd have actually got VG Lightnings they probably wouldn't have been the last fixed wing FAA fighters, so no need for an Omega.

You're a braver man than me, Lee, tackling so many builds at the same time.  Prodigious work - I do hope you'll be satisfied with the results.

Something I got used t, I suppose, but TBH, it's really not working for me anymore.  This is the final time.  I can really do without the stress, especially now.

1: There's so many builds here that I've lost track. Again.
Are there pics of progress of your different builds somewhere? I know of some of the Lightning spawns, but the Swift's et al - not so much.
2: referring to the Lightnings - have you considered one big honking build thread where everything is built and documented, then adding more compact "ready for show"-threads for each and every build once complete? If you feel you need those at all, that is..

Just a thought as I'm quite curious on how they're shaping up..  ;)

1.  Can't help with that, I have issues keeping up with myself at times.  Especially yesterday trying to decal in a particular order.
As for photos, I posted some on facebook a few weeks back, but nothing since and the builds are at a stage where I don't want to show them off as it'll ruin the effect when they are done and shown off - ie next weekend at Telford.  Plus I have a nice new base ideal for photographing smaller stuff.

2.  Stuff gets lost in big threads.  Besides which, as I use Facebook for photo hosting (it's free), pictures tend to disappear after a week or so.  You'd end up with a big thread full of blanks.

I can't really argue with any of above. How annoying..  ;D ;D

Have emailed you pics of my Sea Hawk trainer bits and bobs.  Similar next week regarding my long-delayed P6 project.

Aye, saw them but didn't have time to reply.  Mine's not got any further than playing with bits.

One thing I did find was a set of wings from some VEB kit of a Russian helicopter that look like extended Sea Hawk wings.  I'm almost tempted with a high altitude PR version.  Although I may go for an all through jetpipe.

While 'manning the stand' at Telford Lee and I pondered on using the Sukhoi for the fuselage of a Flattening and it looked pretty good too.

The underlined phrase meaning sitting there to chat with the interested passers by while really plotting stuff to build for the show NEXT year.  ;D
