Quote from: NARSES2 on June 12, 2023, 11:42:43 PMInteresting piece about the Ar 199 Lee.

A  lot of authors of historical subjects of all kinds will admit that their piece is a "best guess based on the available information", and fresh information is always coming to light.

Chris is right, it is an interesting piece! Ar199 is not an aircraft I knew anything about, so I went off to look it up,  and I will be most intrigued to see your take on it.

I tend to regard authors who admit that their work is  a "best guess based on the available information" as  a lot more  reasonable and quite probably more reliable than those who make  definitive pronouncements.

Incidentally, Lee, the fact that I don't often reply to matters raised in your blogs  isn't through lack of interest....I do read your posts with interest, thank you for making them..... but I work on the basis that "If  I've nothing useful to contribute I say nothing";  unlike so many pundits, personalities and politicians.

Quote "Never a good idea, but post war, the MAEE were using various Mosquitoes for continued development if Highball under the codename Card. How about a section of the same unit were to evaluate Kurt, using captured Fw 190s as drop ships? " end quote

Like this idea a lot

Spent some time writing the background for this, but need to do some research (ship names, serials, etc) before I pass it on.

There isn't much which is not preferable to listening to Ed Sheeran...

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I see what you mean about the civvie Spanish He-111. Not one I've even had a glimpse of before, and just like the embryo Luftwaffe to use one for PR work.

But then Sid Cotton was doing just the same with G-AFTL of course.  ;D

The only good thing that can be said about heydrich is that his death was drawn out, painful, and what he deserved.  A pitchfork through the chest would have been too quick.

Until you started on this Spanish kick Lee I really hadn't realised just how many different types Spain had flown. Your educational mate, you can probably get a grant for it  ;)

They had that much stuff left by the Luftwaffe, let alone the ex-soviet garbage, that you could stick almost anything in Spanish markings and not be far off.

From a recent visit to the Planet website, it is still current.  Which is good as I'll have to steal a canopy from an unstarted kit.

It's getting some remedial sanding.  Markings will be from the Marivox Vampire F1 as I have a pair tucked away.

Lost Cosmonauts

From the sounds of it your loft sounds like it could double as an annex to a decent museum archive. Is there a definitive collector's photo guide available from the gift shop?
