Figures that may be useful to you as a basis for conversions

Tamiya Campus Friends with Vespa, it has been re-issued a couple of times and shows up on the used market.

BTW it comes with a jig for making scale eye-glasses.

Fujimi Garage and Tools, No.5, currently OOP but again it shows up used.

Gargae and Tools, No. 4-Mechanics is available (same mechanics as set 5).

Hasegawa's 1/24 Willy's MB kit (again currently OOP) comes with either a .30 or .50 Browning MG, depending on which version
of the kit you get.

Their 1/24th Kubel comes with an MG 34, Kar 98K, MP 40, Panzerfaust and potato-masher grenade.
It is available with either regular tires or the 'balloon' sand-tires as used by the DAK. All versions
have a driver figure, and one release has a standing figure of Hans-Joachim Marseille.

Walther's is a huge model-RR company in the US with a decent search engine,
they show some Preiser German firefighter (circa 1985) sets in 1/24th that could be useful:

Note that neither Walther's nor other sites I've checked show them in stock, but they may be something to watch out for.

Tamiya's Rally Mechanics set may have conversion possibilities too:

Italeri do a few military models in 1/24th, including a British Army Landrover with a 7.62mm GPMG, a Jeep with a .50 cal Browning, and an "armed pickup" (.50 cal again):

Those sound like a lot of good places to look. Thanks.
(Am I really wondering how to convert a Vespa for off road and camouflage it?)

Is it faster in recoil than in forward gear?  ;D

No recoil: it's a recoilless rifle!

Put a light round in though, and you could probably double the Vespa's speed.....

Can't say I fancy falling off it on a hard road though.... :o

The streets of Paris will never be the same with that loose.

Having seen the roads in Paris (and nearly being run down on the pavement, less than a hundred yards from two Policemen! :o) I think it would come in very handy! ;D
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.
