You mean it takes an Agricutural Equipment engineer (Ye Olde School of Broke Tractors) with a PHD in Baling Wire to figure this out?

So, in the world of what if, what aircraft should have been modified for these runs, and no easy answers like KC-135?

All of a sudden I had this mental picture of a PBY Catalina converted like a water bomber à la CL-215 scooping up hops blossom tea from a lake of beer...

Without the bellytank full of fuel, the EE Lightning wouldn't get to the end of the runway!  ;D

Now, if you put beer in the overwing tanks, it could get to altitude.  I have seen odd things done as well to cool beverages.  Burying them and pouring petrol on the spot and lighting it, cools beverages.  Putting beverages in a sandbag, soaking the sandbag in petrol and swinging it around your head will also cool beverages.   Putting beverages in a waterbag, full of water and the attaching it to the front of a truck and driving a couple of hundred klicks...  Personally, I always preferred having a 150 cu.ft. fridge available.

I read somewhere that the beer transported this way (no it's not a whiff yet)   was Henty & Constables  Best Bitter.

Ah , sadly now out of business, but the tradition lives on

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

We used to put a six pack in a cardboard box and stick the nozzle of a freon fire extinguisher into the box and give it a good blast.  That was back in the 80's so I'm sure you cannot get that kind of extinguisher today.  CO2 would have to do.

....and now for something completely different, thawing the d....d stuff out without damaging it.  It's a v  e r  y long story, and explains why  the alcoholic products of the Isle of Islay (or Highland Park)  are more appropriate to a cold climate.
