Folks:

There has been some excellent discussion and builds on the USAAF P-48, P-49 and P-72 Corsair. Jorel's line of P-49s were my inspiration.

Here is my intrepretation.

Here we have a RAF Corsair MK.I, RS-G HD 265, sitting on the deck on the USS Cowpens prior to launch before joining 30 SQN RAF at Chittagong. The Corsair MK.I was used to provide air cover for the Thunderbolt IIs during ground attack missions as well as air field defense. The Corsair was selected over the Hurricane for this role due its ability to hold its own with the very maneuverable Japanese fighters.

Also shown with a RW Thunderbolt II used by No. 30 SQN in 1945 Chittagong, India.

This is the older Hasegawa F4U-1 Birdcage painted in 30 SQN based in Chittagong, India. What a sweet kit. It just fell together. It is painted with Tamiya Spray Bombs in a two tone NMF. I brushed on the 18" Blue Stripes.

TBolt Mk. II is the Academy P-47D. Another great fitting kit.

Both are OOB builds except for the decals (Rising Decals SEAC Fighters) and masking tape for seat-belts.

Very smart indeed.  More a 'if only' than a 'what if' to me!

That's a beauty and they make a handsome pair

Yup, great builds!

And I have to agree with Logan re: that photo.
Has a life outside of What-If & wishes it would stop interfering!
