Crunchy apple sauce anyone? Heck, the troopies need more iron in their diets anyway.
As for the water tank, why not have pop-off lids on top? They hit the water tanks and it blows the water out the top. Free vehicle wash and a cloud of mist screwing with the enemy's thermal sights.

Gotta nickname that the "Casey Jones"....... ;)

Agreed!!   Seriously(as if we weren't always so)   does anyone know anything about water (or gel ) as armour......I don't and I'm curious.

Oh yeah?   It does if it gets hot !    Seriously, how efficient would a water tank (probably with some airspace above it) be as protection?Would it act as a blast cushion?

No. Water transmits shockwaves quite efficiently, so you may end up ripping a hole in the inner wall of the tank.

That made up example shows what can be done with old kits

If you built special 'Pop Top Can' armor to redirect the shock wave by letting the water blow out the top it would be good for one shot at least (I think). Why are we redesigning the hammer again?

PS: What about sand barrels like at highway high angle impact areas?

Barrels of dirt or sand have been used for years including as revetments in Vietnam. In Iraq we used mile of HESCO barriers. Basicly a wire cage with a fabric liner that unfolds into a rough cube shape. When filled with dirt they are very effective. They came in different sizes and could be stacked. Not for vehicles however. Great for revetments and such. For improvised armor just copy the gun trucks. Some trucks used a layer of sand bags between steel sheets or plywood.

Not really, I'm back up on Christmas Island, but it is the "go to" project at home & I am half-way through the 3rd unit (pure cargo hauler).

That's, also, a moderately early shot - before I raised the roof of the "caboose" - but, as this is a discussion on armoured supply vehicles, I thought (cheekily) it may give a touch of inspiration for others to start putting their ideas into plastic.
