Sorting out the stash

I must be barking mad!

Ive spent the day emptying the loft of my stash. Why? Im running out of storage space rather rapidly. So its time to sort/count/repack the stash. And decide whats staying and what can go on the disposal list.

So far after ten hours Ive removed about half the stash so far, and the spare bed room is full to bursting. Once the loft has been cleared we intend to kill a few more birds with the same stone. We are going to re insulate and re lay the flooring in those areas of the loft where the stash lives. Its also allowed me to relocate some junk that the previous owners of the house left behind to the local waste tip.

there is one massive down side to this. My Mum finally gets to see the stash with her own eyes.  :-X
Normaly she only see's what joining it as she is scared of heights and wont climb the ladder into the loft
I always hope for the best.

That way lies doom, you mark my words!

You may have to 'stealth mode' the stash by doubling up kits in their boxes - then you can be one step ahead when the inevitable moaning begins.

Just hope no-one else picks any up.and wonders why the boxes suddenly weigh ten times more than they did before...

your a braver man than I Horatio!
I was under the impresion that stashes were like quantum physics.  If yoy know exactly whats in them you can be building any!

good luck with the insulation though and Deathjesters option may be the way to go, to get more space.

Partly due to stash problems, but mainly due to having a girlfriend at the time, early 90's, I moved out of my parents house and into my own place. No stash problems at all now, at least as far as I can fit it into the flat. Not yet had to move into the roof space, but its moving in that direction  :banghead:

to be honest i double up kits like that, not out of "stealth" but due to lack of space,  a goodly chunk of my boxs have postit notes on them saying how meny of a kit are in there,  and also wether they need pilots ( i wont start on that one .....)

In some cases quadrupling or more ;D

About 3/4 of the stash is now out of the loft. And I have run out of room in the spare room, so the office has been taken over as well.

Ive sorted whats already down into their respective manufacturers. So far the largest contingent is Airfix my a mile, hotly pursued by Revell and Italeri fighting for 2nd place. With Matchbox and the MPM group going for 4rd and 5th.

So far ive found a Hercules I didnt know I had, and finally seen just how may AMT C-135's ive got (3 KC-135R's, 2 Rivit joints and a laser lab).

The largest number of one type is the Spitfire/Seafire family (32 in total). the Canberra (both British and American variants) family take 2nd with 26. 3rd is the the DC-3/C-47/R4D family with 18. 4th is the Westland Lysander with 14 in stock.

Photos! This thread is worthless without photos! ;)

Roughly how many kits are we talking about here?

Steel Penguin

in answer to that eternal question.
Not enough, yet too many..

My problem is sharing stash space with my younger  (undergraduate) son. NO,  YOUNG MAN, THAT IS NOT YOUR BUCCANEER!   Mrs R has no objections "as long as you spend your own money on it and keep it tidy  "
"If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you....."
It  means that you read  the instruction sheet

I share the loft with my Dad, no real clash over the stash thou. He builds narrow gauge trains and small scale targets.

Well, Mum has seen the spare room. I think the laughter was the shock setting in.

No demands to cut the numbers...................................................yet.
