Word has been flying in the rumor mill about this and it has been verified to be true. After days of snooping, I have finally gotten images of the new tooled kit from Hobbycraft's facebook page.

If you notice the nose gear door is on the incorrect left side. It also appears that it is also a scaled down version of the 1/48 scale HC1659 new tooled Arrow because of the missing panel lines between the airbrakes. Others may find more errors.

Saw them at my LHS last week. Didn't look too bad, but I think it's $39, and for that price I do't think the updates are worth it. The landing gear and cockpit are only marginally better than the original.

Hey Captain Canada,

It looks alot like a 1/72 scale version of the 1/48 scale HC1659 one. The 1/48 scale one isn't worth the $60-ish and $40 for the 1/72 one doesn't look good. It would be more reasonable if the 1/48 and 1/72 were half the MSRP because asking for Hasegawa price for Testors/Hawk quality is just insane. Well, I'll be looking at the shows for a cheaper one just because I'm tired of my HC1392.

looks good, but that "detailed cockpit" part.........

So let me get this straight: they issued a new tool version of a notoriously dubious kit, corrected some of the old flaws, introduced new ones, and then built the kit up wrong and posted it on their own website? Genius........... ;)

Well it does look an improvement, and no doubt a suitable after market canopy can be created. Nice to see they have corrected the size and shape; the new Exhausts look interesting as at least it no looks possible to do a conversion to a production version with the Canadian engine. Personally i would have like to see them do an optional open weapons bay as that would have made the kit a lot more interesting and open up the option for Whif possibilities.

the old one is still good for carving up and making into a WHIFF SHADO interceptor though

If your talking about the Iroquois powered mark 2's, then the exhaust cones don't need altering but if your talking about the early mark 1's with the J75, you'll need to replace it or rework it - taper and shorten a bit. The kit represents the Arrow with a type1a, I believe that's what they called it, exhaust used to test the ground clearance for the mark 2's during rotate on take off and flare on landings.

Looking at the review it's not bad accuracy wise, fit could be better.  I think we're looking at a similar kind of quality to the 1/72 TSR.2.  I'll have to see what the price is when they release it over here to see if it's worth replacing my older version.  Hopefully they won't just convert the dollar figure into pounds.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

As I own the moulds to the Victoria Products CF-105, I already could provide canopies.  These are moulded in two pieces and are split down the middle so that an open cockpit can easily be displayed correctly.

And very good mouldings they make too!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Robert,

As I mentioned in a pm to you that the VP molds may seem to be useful for correcting this new 1/72 Arrow which is a direct scale down of the new tooled , actually retooled, 1/48 Arrow that has some errors. Size is now 1/72 so components from the VP one can be more easily intermixed. Another thought is the exhaust cones and stinger for early rollout versions. LMK what you think.

That might be an idea Nick, I'll certainly look into providing canopies.  If you want forward fuselages though, have a look at MasterCasters website., I can't compete with those I'm afraid.

Do I take it that the reborn HobbyCraft went as quickly as it came, I did manage to source a new tool Arrow back in 2013, but have not seen anymore since.

Anybody know if they are still around or have seen the new kit with the 3 view drawing box available anywhere ?
