This isn't really a What If, but rather a "could have been". It depicts a photographic session of a group of US troops having come across a "Karl" heavy mortar somtime in spring 1945.  The "Karl" and its munitions carrier along with the 20mm AA halftrack and the Deuce and a Half are all Hasegawa kits. The 2 US M3 halftracks are Italeri. The Kublewagen and Jeep are Academy. The figures are from a variety of sources and many were modified to poses more appropriate to the occasion. The Kublewagen and the 20mm AA halftrack have been shot up and the kubelwagen ended up crashed into a tree and the halftrack in the ditch.

Overall scene.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

I thought you'd been a little quite recently Ed..........  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Dioramas are great to put subjects in context, if you're up to the art of painting figures. Great work!
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Great job on the dio, all it needs now is a suitable backdrop. <_<
