When I set out to extend the wings on my XP-76 I used tubing inside the wing leading edges and I-beams along the flap-line to ensure the outer wings weren't too wobbly.  Even so it was ... not to be tempted, shall we say?  The beams were held in place with about 10ccs of superglue ... each.  ;)  'Course, this was 1/48 scale that I got cheap from a scratch-n-dent sale.  If you're working in 1/72 then I'm sure you'll be fine.

More work has been done on the wings, the shape should now work. And I am now ready to enter the putty&sanding hell....

In the meantime, I could start to paint the cockpit interior. For the general bad quality of this kit, the inside is quite "detailed"

For the big wings, the fuselage has to be extended.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

@PR19_Kit : I have now shorted the extension a bit, it was too long . The tail and rudder is attached behind the brown part on the right, and did not look so good.

I hope that this construction works as it should.

While work continues with the wings - putty and sanding - I modfied the tail with elvators and rudders

Enlarge it

Add additional surfaces

Installing the first two rudders, the third will follow

The extended fuselage, now a bit shorter than before. But looks better this way.

While I am still make putty&sanding games with the wings, the fuselage extension made some progress.

Both parts put together

Adding some cover. Looks ugly right now, I fear more putty&sandingwill be required.

Sometimes, things do not work as expected.

After adding a lot of putty and sanding it several times. And add more putty it fist looks as it was coming along nicely

But then I found out that the fuselage is now bend. I fear this would have an impact on the flight characteristics.

So everything had to be taken apart again, a new extension had to be made

And I am back in the putty & sanding fun. But this time, it looks better. But still a way to go.

The hull extension is now done, only a few pits have to be corrected. So the tail section could be added as well. More putty&sanding required here.

And a test to put all together, how it looks right now.
