Looking with interest what becomes of this, since I have a Heyford in The Stash™, too, but still without a good plan for it...

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

After some tests, I found a shape for the new tail. This is the test print with the FDM printer, the "real" one will be made with the SLA printer as this will create smoother surfaces.

A quick test for wings, engines and fuselage to take a few measurements.

The original engines of the Heyford, with all the connections of the lower wing. As the Dornier will have no lower wing, most of them will be removed, but i have to keep one as support for the landing gear.

A first test for the landing gear mound. Plan is to put it over the original connections. The "disc" at the lower end was just for easier printing.

Putting a few thins together to find out what kind of parts must be printed.

Unfortunately, my printer is going a bit mad right now, so this is currently blocking a bit.

That's looking very promising.

It reminds me I should get on with my long delayed Heyford Monoplane too.  :banghead:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

And me with my monoplane floatplane one.  :banghead:
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

Well, fighting a lot with the 3D printers those days, they do not do what I want them to do. Especially the SLA printer got a bit mad.

Working on the the landing gear. Ok, I saw that I  constructed it wrong, so back to construction.

Comparison: FDM (left) and SLA printer (right). The right print is much nicer.

And then the SLA printer started to play mad. So further tests for the landing gear had to be made with the FDM printer:

It now fits more or less. So this is the way to go. Now I hope that I can fix the printer issues.

With the beginning of the new year, i could fix the printer issues and make a final print of the landing gear. Yes, its quite massive, but those Do23s had a quite massive one. And in the end, it must be printed in a way that it does not collapse.

So, here is the construction with wheels mounted:

And a test to attach them to the wings:

now lets get it to the paint shop.
