The Arado Ar-80 was one of the competitors of the Me 109 in the competition for a new single seat fighter.

It failed, as the Messerschmidt design was much more advanced. But what if there would have been a potential customer for this plane?

Lets start a What-If.

Possibly one of the Balkan states, perhaps  or a South American air force such as Chile or Argentina?

I've got a few of them too, and they always struck me as being very well engineered, especially the one they did of the Fw Triebflugal.

While collecting my various model boxes for my move, I found some old Huma kits, including the Triblugel. It really was a nice kit. They were masters of low pressure molding - the white plastic they used responded beautifully to cement and the fit was usually very good to excellent. Their Me P.1101 was the only model I remember having an issue with - the fuselage panel lines didn't line up.

Well, nice idea, but it will go into another direction on the map...

Turkey ? I would say Nationalist Chinese, but given the German pact with Japan that's not really on.

My engineer is studying the instructions, but it does not seem to be that complicated this time, Especially as we do not have to design some new parts.

This is what will be inside of the plane. Not much, but it seems that parts fit quite good together.

And regarding the operator of this aircraft, maybe you should guess a bit more north....

Painting has been completed, just the windscreen is missing.
Now preparing the decals for it.

@Old Wombat: No Mongolian, did they had aircraft in the 1930s?

Some Soviet types, although they initially had some Junkers types for civil/military use in the 20's. That's from Wiki' although I confirmed it in a book I have on Soviet between the Wars history - index's are wonderful things  ;D

Lets start with something more "modern". A BAC Lighning, but with a different operator.

Got this old Airfix kit a while ago on ebay.

When opening the box, there was quite some surprise, there were actually two kits (seem to be complete) in the box. But no instructions or decals. As those are quite simple kits, and instruction is not really needed and i need new decals anyway.

Its definitely an old kit, not very detailed, so the first steps of the construction went quite well, although quite some putty was required.

Add some weight and a floor in the cockpit

Putty and sanding

My engineer makes the final checks before painting

Its now ready to go to the airbrush cabin.

Somehow, I expected that from you.... :)
But no Twin-Lightning as I can use the other kit for another project.
