I'm not a fan of the F5 or F20 but it's looking good in that Scheme

What??

But the F-5 is so pretty!

Sorry, I don't think pretty at all when I see an F.5. The nose just spoils it I'm afraid.

As I am running into some issues with the Me110 - which will hopefully resolved soon, I started with another small aircraft kit.

Its a KP model MiG 17 - a very old, simply, basic and horrible kit, I really do not know why i had this one in my stock of models. So lets make something WhatIf out of it.

This is the model box:

And this is the model:

Starting to build the cockpit, lets call the parts a bit "rough":

Installing it into the aircraft:

I guess this will be some "fun" to build...

Oh yes, but still those KP kits are really a bit dated.

No all "major" things are added, so lets prepare it for painting.

Those early KP kits brought new meaning to the term 'rivetted'.

I've got a few of the very first KP kit, their original L-29 Delfin kit which came in a plastic bag, like a vintage Airfix kit. The rivets on that kit are almost UNBELIEVABLE!  :o

@zenrat: Really? In the end, this kit is not too bad for its time, just the production qulity is not the best.

@PR19_Kit: :) This is solid Soviet technology, big rivets keep things together better :)

Yes.  Hasegawa cockpit is IIRC just a floor with a seat on it and a small Instrument panel attached inside the fuselage.

I have one of these in the stash.  I'll have to dig it out and have a look.

Yup, there's a few early Hasegawa kits like that.

The Wooksta!

The KP kits are products of the 70s, some better than others, but they did some unique subjects that even now have yet to be done.

I got the KP Delphins via a Czech pen friend in '73 I think.

He turned out to be the official photographer for the Czech Air Force at the time!  :o
