The RN ones look great. White Ensign do a truck load of PE and resin to fix up the Airfix ships, particularly the County.

EDIT: or maybe not - most of it seems to be out of stock at the moment....

The Royal Navy greets its newest addition: HMS Undine.

A ex-Frog kit in 1/500 scale, this actual kit was a Russian re-release with a very old fashioned looking box.
However, it was quite nice to build, and some PE parts were added.

Another beauty from the most prolific and best eyesighted shipyard out there ! Looks good. Nice to see all the details at such a wee scale. The little dudes are always a nice touch.

Finally, the last ship of my little RN fleet is completed, the HMS Leander.

Another 1/600 Airfix kit, this time it was of a much better production quality than the last Airfix ship I made.

Painted with Revell Aqua Color, and some Eduard PE crew members added.

And btw, to me, those ships look quite ugly with their massive bow .....

I understand they were really good hull designs, with great seakeeping, but they always reminded me of the bowhead whale.

Cheers,

Captain Canada

I think that my next What-If should be a ship again, so lets start with it.

The base model to take is this one:

A 1/720 Scale Revel Blücher - which is a very old and basic kit. But good enough to build something different form it.
So here is the plan: It will be the Russian Cruiser Petropawlowsk. This ship was the former German Heavy Cruiser Lützow which was sold to the Soviet Union in 1940. Towed to Leningrad, the was completed about 2/3, and finally scrapped after 1960.

The model will show it in the 1960s after a major reconstruction took place in the early 1960s. And not, no carrier or hybrid this time :)
