Right now, its more planning than building, but at least, there is a green underwater part of the Petropawolowsk. Like several soviet ships had

Project 152 - as the former cruiser is now called - should become a ballistic missile cruiser, carrying several ICBMs. It was planed as a fallback solution, if missile carrying submarines would not work.
So, the plan is to remove the gun turrets "C" and "D" and use the backward part of the ship to carry several nuclear missiles.

A first attempt how this could be look like is on the pic above. But nothing is fixed yet.

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

No, not really. Actually I saw someone who sold a "conversion kit" for the Prinz Eugen on Ebay, for a Prinz Eugen 1947 conversion with a little missile hangar at the stern of the ship. So this gave me the idea for the Ballistic Cruiser Petropawolosk.

The easy part is now done, the hull is painted and completed.

I now work on the "missile hangar", the paper version is now replaced by one made from plastic. Additionally, all the torpedo tubes are removed from the main deck. This old Revell kit has many guns directly molded into the decks, so they all have to be removed.

After two busy weeks in the office, time to continue work on the Petropawolowsk again

As all of the WW2 era AA guns were removed, the upper deck is prepared to get some more modern AA guns

The "missile hangar" will have a little helicopter hangar at its stern side. Behind it, the helicopter landing platform will be located.

The forward superstructure will be more or less the same as on the original ship, however, the radar equipment will be modernized.

Looking good. I really like the landing pad at the back. Always nice to see a chopper on the deck of a ship.
