Well, I want to build those old kits "as they are" (ok, except the missing parts.... <g>), so I added the Regulus on the Long Beach. And it looks cool there I think ;)

And she does does look great with the Regulus II!  I just wanted to clarify for others that the real LONG BEACH never sailed with them or the Polaris.  Excellent use of the kit.

Next to go for the US 1960s fleet: USS Currituck.

Lets hope that this time, no parts are missing....

Ooooh, wasn't the Currituck  the seaplane tender that was earmarked for the proposed Martin Seamaster 'mobile base'? I seem to recall the name somehow....
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

She indeed was.....

I snuck a SeaDart in as well   ;)

The SeaMaster were a bash of various scale aircraft, including 1/350 S-3 Viking for the forward fuselage, 1/350 Hornets for the engines.  I have since repainted the SeaMasters to the correct SeaPlane gray,

Well, at least it looks like a ship now, not just some parts:

And as I do not have such fancy planes for it, I keep the original ones.

She still looked impressive with the Mariners perched on the stern, and your model's looking good already.

Nice work  Stripped of armament I can see her being used as a research ship

Indeed, the USS NORTON SOUND, one of the ships in the 4 ship CURRITUCK class spent most here post WWII life as a test ship.  Stipped of most armament she was a trials ship for missile launches, experimental guns, radar etc.  Evan had 2 AEIGIS radar panels (one a dummy) for a bit. The big flat deck aft was a perfect place for rocket/missile tests.

Lots of WHIF potential for this old kit!
