And don't forget - the USS Currituck took part in Operation Highjump in 1946, you know the one that was intercepted by the Reichsflugscheiben from Neuschwabenland. At least the conspiracy guys say so....... :)
So there is another what-if potenital here.

The Currituck has left the shipyard:

Build OOB, the only things added are the wires at the cranes. Painted/brushed with Revell Aqua Color, I also added a bit Tamiya rust to it, hope it was not too much.
As I do not have a PE-crew in this scale, again, no crew members on board.

Great result.  The rust is just fine.  Well done.

Now the last ship of the US fleet is in the shipyard: USS Nautilus.

Also part of the missile fleet set, this one is pretty simple, and the "V1" on the deck fits nice to this old kit:

This one should be finished soon.

Finally, the USS Nautilus has been complted. Sadly, I lost the decals somewhere, so no "571" on it :(

Anyway, it was a very simple and easy build ad as this kit is part of the old Revell "Missile Fleet" set, the kit has of course a little missile on it. A JB-2, the American more-or-less copy of the German V1. Which of course was not used on the Nautilus, but tested on other subs like the USS Cusk.

The model is painted with Revel Aqua Color and build OOB.

To start somthing new, I want to concentrate now on 1/700 scale waterline ships. The first one - to test some new materials I got - is the Kriegsmarine Z38:

More about this ship can be found here: http://www.german-navy.de/kriegsmarine/ships/destroyer/zerstorer1936amob/z38/index.html

This is the old Matchbox kit which is not that detailed and which does not fit so good at all. It was upgraded with some PE railing, PE crew and EZ line for the antenas. Which did not work out that good, I still have to experiment a bit witrh this. For the railling, I used a genreic one by Aber which is much "softer" than the ones from Eduard I used before (and which I prefer).

The model is painted with Revell Aqua Color and Tamiya rust. Build OOB, I just added a wave breaker on the fore-deck.

Some details:

That's a neat build of what is a basic and old kit. Very well done
