No spoilers please.  I haven't watched the last season yet.

You should watch it... Too bad that its so long until the 5th season starts.

Its sitting there on the DVR waiting for us to binge view but we have to finish The Night Manager first and Mrs z insists on watching all this reality crap.  Oh, and footy season just started as well.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

This time, I'll start something where i do not know if it will be completed at all. But I try.... ;D

This project will be a Coast Defence Ship - build completly from that is in the spare part box. Scale will be 1/400.

So to start with, I take the underwater ship form the USS Arizona and build the ship hull on top of it:

Now that the basic hull is done, bow and stern are modeled with quite some putty.

This will be interesting. What period is it ?

Plan is to make it late 1920s, early 1930s (construction date). This is what my spare part box has some parts that I want to use.

NoNo Bar, thank you for this thread. I am enjoying seeing how you create these masterpieces... and learning some things.

While working on the hull - putty & sanding, putty & sanding, putty & - I guess you know what....

... I made some tests for the superstructure. There is a lot stuff in the spare part box, left overs of various 1/700, 1/400 and 1/350 scale ships and a few "shipwrecks".

So as a start I take some stuff from the wrecks as the base of the superstructure, but it has to be cleaned up a bit plus - of course - repainted.
The deck is just a test to get the right shape made from paper. It will be replaced with a plastic deck later.

Still working on the the hull, so meanwhile, I started with the deck.

Cut and painted for further usage. For the superstructure, I reused a funnel from one of the wrecks.

Besides the funnel, platforms for the boats are added. This is required as the superstructure space is quite small and will be cramped a little bit.

Calculating the size of the ship - with 26cm in scale 1/400 the "original" will have a length of just about 100 meters.

After a short break due to vacations and business trips, my engineer and I continued work in the shipyard.

So here is how the coast defence ship looks like now:

The hull is ready for being painted now.

Bow section with anchor chains, from old Heller kits:

The backward part of the superstructure is almost done now. Funnel, searchlights, some AA guns, crane and boats:

This is the WIP of the forward part of the superstructure:

Work will now continue on painting of the hull and completing the forward superstructure.

Coming along nicely. Revell paint tub is a good indicator of the size of the thing

Secondary 15 cm guns added to the deck.
