Wow.....what phenomenal work ! Love watching things like this, seeing what it's made of and getting ideas. It's cool how little things add up to make such an amazing model. Great stuff.

My engineer is very satisfied that the two major components of the now named Coast Defense Ship "Helgoland" are close of being combined.

Hull, painted, deck added, main 28cm guns in place:

I use EZ-Line for it, oringinally this is for model trains, I guess to make telegraph lines. Its a very thin (0,07 mm) rubber line and can be extended by 700% without breaking. I still have to see how it looks after a few years.

I then use super-glue to attach it ot one part, extend it a bit and fix it that it can dry out. Then fix the other side.

While the Helogland is coming up with the last small details, the IJN has get its latest addition:

The IJN Sakura, a 1/700 scale destroyer. A small Fujimi model, and this ship is really small compared to other destroyers. Because of its size, it was really a bit of paint to build, especially with the PE parts on it.

So here it is:

A new ship to be started. As there are too few North Korean ships here, I will build one this time.

Starting with this kit, the IJN small cruiser Kinu:





It will be modified to something North Korean. The Missile Cruiser 드래곤 숨 (Deulaegon Sum). Or "Dragons Breath" in English.

So, for the beginning, add something that the dragon can spit his fire:

The north Korean navy had no usage for the old original 5,5' guns, therefore the gun armament was focused on dual usage anti-air guns.
The two gun turrets on the bow were replaced by a twin mount AK-130 5,1'
automatic naval guns.

The original positions of two other 5,5' guns besides the command tower were replaced by light 40mm AA guns.

The complete view of the Deulaegon Sum, paint job on the hull is done, now working on the various superstructure parts. The dragons breath is still missing, but a 57mm twin gun turret afterwards.



Forward superstructure. Which is more or less the original one, but with different radars equipment and a new mast.
