Not that the three CVEs are completed, something with lesser 3D printing.

This will be the Heavy Cruiser "Tokio" of the German Kriegsmarine.

It is based on this Hasegawa kit:

This is in the box - not so much:

And some of those parts will be used as well:

My engineer is ready to start with it.

Your engineer looks keen to go!

Either that or it's a case of "you want me to do what, with what ?"  ;)

Looking forward to seeing the way this goes

As this will be a Kriegsmarine ship, we need a Kriegsmarine-style camo.
So lets assume, the Tokio was based in Norway at one point of its career:

Several parts of the superstructure. Modifications are: Additional rangefinders and Funkmessgeräte (Radar). 10,5 cm guns. German-Style AA rangefinders (Wackeltöpfe)

Finally, the construction so far

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Is that a mini-flight deck she's got aft of the 2nd funnel?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Unfortunately, there will be no Stargate on the Tokio :)

And yes, those ships had conventional catapults for float planes, no hybrid-style flight deck.

Now more parts come together, German 10,5 cm guns and rangefinders are now added. Catapults as well. Still working on more of the smaller parts of it.

All parts of the model are now added and painted. So now, the rigging and PE fun begins... :)

A lot of real life issues prevented to build in the last weeks, even if my engineer wants to more.

However, finally, a real-life model is completed, the old Revell 1/720 USS Massachusetts.

This one is build OOB, to have the 1950/60s look&feel of scale models. The only addition are a few PE crew members, but not a lot as I am running out of stock :)

As the aircraft crane was missing, I had to 3D print a replacement of it.

The model was build as it looked in WW2.

Why this ship? Because i visited it in in 2007

But a new - very much what-if -  project is in the finally phases of planning.

Captain Canada

Very nice ! Such big, beautiful ships. Of course, the addition of some crew members always brings up the level of realism, and scale ! Looking forward to the next project.
