A new ship leaves NöNö Bärs shipyard: The USS Indianapolis.

This is a 1/700 scale Matchbox kit, and compared with the Matchbox Z38, this one was better to build.

The ship was equipped with Eduard PE railings and crew members. antennas are made with EZ-Line (which worked better than last time, but the result still could be better). The model was airbrushed/painted with Revell Aqua Color.

Now that the shipyard is empty, my engineer has moved in a lot of stuff to start something new...

Come out well. I have to keep reminding myself how small some of this stuff is

So my engineer came up with something new, a ship this time.

Lets start with this one as the base for this what-it:

The idea is to build a small carrier/hybrid based on a Spruance-Class destroyer.

So to start with, I made some paper mock-ups of the hangar structure that should be places on the ship (of course this is still looking very crude:

Based on the mock-up, the hangar is build out of 0,5mm polystyrene sheets. My engineer checks if everything is going according to his plans:

Besides this, I started to work on the superstructure. Based on the original one, this one is much more narrow:

After quite some putty and sanding, the hangar structure now looks like this:

More work has been done to the main superstructure, the forward main deck has been added.

At the moment, it would be Putty&Filler :)

Not much time to build this week, a bit more work on the superstructure and first work on the air wing.
And of course, more putty.....

For such a small carrier wouldn't it be an 'Air Winglet'?  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

While my carrier project is only progressing very slwoly, one of those classic ship leaves the shipyard: The USS Arizona.

This is a 1/700 scale HobbyBoss model which was quite cheap to get (less than 7€).
Updated with PE railings (which did not work very well, have to return to the Eduard ones), PE crew and EZ-Line its finally completed. Especially the crew and antennas took quite some time to complete while the base model was done almost a month before.

Here are some pics:

Everything is painted/airbrushed with Revell Aqua Color.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

That's excellent  Amazing the difference the railings and tiny crew figures makes
